| Can you edit RAW pictures with Photoshop 6.0? |

Only when you have the Nikon NEF photoshop plugin installed. And you can only edit the whitebalance I believe, not much. After that it is just a normal 16 or 8 bit tiff.

I don't think so, but you can download RAW Essentials and process RAW with that. They're free version is very good

| I always hear of people saying that they only shoot in RAW cause they have so much more control. How do they edit RAW then? |

I think RAW support came with version 7. You can always use the Nikon untility to convert the RAW image. I've heard good things about it. In some of the forums people have stated they prefer the Nikon converter over Photoshop's. |

The Nikon utility will give you the RAW tools to set white balance, sharpness, contrast, saturation, and much more. Then you save it out as a TIF and continue editing in PhotoShop.
The advantage is, you are working on a first generation file. If you have the camera save the file a a jpg, the camera is making all those decisions for you then saving to jpg. Data is lost in this process. Any other adjustments you make with then be a 2nd generation file.
If you open in RAW, you get the benefit of one less session of data loss. |
