The application of this awareness, however, will only hurt his/her scores at DPC, since a large portion of the voters do not share this awareness, or purposely ignore it.

I haven't seen the photo in question and I don't vote on challenges much anymore either.

All I can do is offer you some simple tips on what is required to do well in a challenge.

1. The photo must have visual POP right away to the viewer. You won't get a second glance without this.

2. Your photo must slap the viewer in the face with the challenge topic. If you don't, you won't get that second glance.

If your score isn't where you think it should be, one or both of the above criteria hasn't been met.

Should probably point out that you are talking about the Thumbnail View to get them to look at it... Just kidding...(well maybe not)

WoW! Couldn't have said it any better myself. And YES you are right about the thumbnail. Has to have a certain pause effect to get you to look at it. In MY experience, it's usually colorful. VERY colorful! Thanks for this quote!!

If you take a break, remember to come back. If not, then you are going away. I have just returned from by break, of three years. Breaks are good to get your mind clear. I had a nephew killed in Iraq and I put a few things in my life on hold. I hope I can release the brakes once again.
