This might sound stupid, but how do i resize an image to fit the requirements for my personal picture in my profile? It says that it needs to be 120x90 but when I set it for that the whole picture is "blocky" and distorted. Any thoughts?

When that happened to me, I looked at the display % size and saw that it was like 300%. Is it still blocky and distorted when you are viewing at 100% or less?

it would help if you would A) post the photo for us to see and B) told us what software you are using

this helps, but now, when I try to upload it to my profile, it says "Your photograph is 105x87 and does not meet the size requirements" but the size requirements are 120x90 or 90x120

Yep, it will give that error. It needs to be *exactly* 120x90. The best way to do it is to crop to a 3:4 aspect ratio at larger size, then progressively reduce size until the longest side is 120px.
