I am wondering if the sun circle that appears in the photo can be avoided?

Does it ruin the value of a photograph?

I'd love people's input.

Are you talking about the flare at the tree line, just below the sun?
A flare like that doesn't really bother me, and I don't think it ruins a photo. It is very easy to clone out in an editing program. Look at the photo both ways and see what you like best. (not legal for DPChallenge).

Looks quite fine. I wouldn't remove it.

I agree - it adds to the shot, rather than detracting.

Personally, I would remove it because I find those halos annoying since my eyes don't actually see them in real life. As you can tell from the other responses, however, they don't bother a lot of people so it's pretty much up to you. Either way, it's easy to get rid of in photoshop.

Jason, you can't see the halos in real life? Oh my, must be something wrong with one of us...I see halos everywhere. BTW...great shot...keep the "halos"!

Sometimes it becomes the point of the image.

Looks good the way you have it.
