George Lutz, famed owner of the Amityville Horror house passed away suddenly on May 8, 2006. I'm not sure why yet because no details have been released.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Lutz here in Hickory, North Carolina back in October when he was here for a book/DVD signing at our local Barnes and Noble. I introduced myself to him and he gladly allowed me to make some photos. He was here in town for a few days, so I offered to give him a couple prints and a CD with some images on it in exchange for an autograph on one of my prints for my own use. He invited me to his hotel the next day and I exchanged the goods for his autograph. He was quite pleasant to meet...

The Mass murder part was real
Here is the house, I lived a few blocks away (The front windows have been changed many years ago to help stop all the people taking pictures)

Wow...I was under the impression that the house was "away" from other homes....has it always been how it is or did other's build around it?
