I have an opportunity to purchase a used Epson 1280 printer for a very good price. Does anyone have any experience with this printer? I've seen its output and I am very happy with what it can do, but are there operational issues, print head issues, etc that I should know about?
Thanks,
JD Anderson

JD, I have several friends who have this printer and I'm actually considering buying one myself. The print output is extremely good. If the price is right, I don't think you can go wrong.

The price is right, and the original owner bought a three year warranty on it (he's only had it for 9 months). If anything goes wrong, they give him a brand new one rather than fix it. He said if I have any problems, he would take it back and exchange it for me, as the warranty is not transferrable. A photographer here in Colorado has an exhibit up and I called him to find out who did his large prints (13x44" panoramas). Turns out he prints them on the 1280 himself. He is looking to sell that printer and upgrade. I agree with you, the output on that printer is incredible!
I think I may do this...
I have two coffee shops (Starbucks and an independent called The Raven's Nest) that are going to putt my work up in October. I need to get some prints made at a cost that is reasonable. This printer seems the way to go.

Thanks for the input...
Have your friends ever had any 'frustating moments' with the printer?

Thanks,
JD Anderson

I have never heard a complaing from any of them... just good things and I have seen the output from them as well. It is exceptional.

The only thing wrong with the 1280 is the 2200 ;)

I really like mine. I was questioning the quality of the Epson Enhanced Matte paper (formerly Archival Matte). But I really like the results. For the 2 weeks I've had it, I've printed b&w with the color inks. Next week I will be getting MIS Ultratone b&w inkset, so it should be even better.
