Dear American Horse,

It's something we don't often do, but after viewing and discussing your photography, the Editorial Advisory Board of the International Library of Photography has nominated you for membership in the most exciting photography organization in the world--the International Society of Photographers!

The Editorial Advisory Board wholeheartedly agrees that your photographic abilities warrant nomination into the International Society of Photographers--a photographic organization that is world-renowned and dedicated to recognizing photographic talent such as yours. As Chairman, I want to personally inform you about all the new benefits of Membership, and I did not want you to miss out on this opportunity. American Horse, I know that after hearing what we are about, you will join us as a member of our society--the International Society of Photographers!

You'll receive many tangible benefits when you become a member. There are three levels of membership, and I am positive there is one that will fit your photographic needs. Whatever membership category you choose, we look forward to your participation in our organization for many years to come. Click here to see the full list of these very important membership items. Perhaps more importantly, you'll be joining fellow photographers from around the world in one of the largest photography organizations in the world--an organization dedicated to recognizing, awarding, and promoting the photographic talent of our members and . . .

An organization you can be proud of!

Noted for our charitable contributions and our accomplishments in furthering photographic endeavors, the International Society of Photographers maintains a reputation for bringing photography to more people and to more nations than any other organization in the world.

Whether you take pictures for the satisfaction it gives you, or as a personal way to record the world around you, or as a hobby, through your membership, you and your photography will be recognized by thousands of people from all over the world. American Horse, it's a great feeling to know they're interested in you, and that your photography is being viewed and enjoyed by others. In fact, by joining the International Society of Photographers, you and your photography will receive worldwide recognition from many different nations.

These exciting, fun, and educational events are full of camaraderie, warm friendship, and mutual admiration for our photographic endeavors.

The photographic event of the year!

This year, our conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, drew photographers from around the world! We believe this to be one of the largest single gatherings of photographers in history. At our conventions, our members have had the opportunity to meet and discuss photographs with National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry, Time Magazine photographer Robert Nickelsberg, and famed rock & roll photographer Bob Gruen. We've been entertained by such acts as The Coasters, The Marvelettes, and Willard Scott, just to name a few . . . not to mention one of the largest single cash prizes of $10,000.00 awarded to a photographer. As a member, you will have a chance to win your share of these cash prizes. No matter what style photography you shoot, you'll find these contests to be exciting and rewarding events.

American Photo . . . An award-winning magazine!

And what a magazine it is! All members of The International Society of Photographers receive a subscription to American Photo magazine. I don't think it's so much of a scam as it is a quick way to earn a buck...it sounds like those places for poetry, etc. "You can be published in our book...now buy our book for $59.99, a mug for $24, an authentic certificate, etc." I've gotten letters like these in the mail, and was even hit up for poetry ones when I was still in grade school.

Did you ever submit a photo to Picture.com? Probably where they got your info.

"It's something we don't often do, but"

ROTFLMAO! So much for truth in advertising!

I submitted a picture several years ago to picture.com before I even had a digital camera. It was taken with my camcorder and it's still a nice picture. But... they still want to display it in Las Vegas and give me all kinds of awards. And it's only about 150 bucks to pay for the stuff!

Damn people got me in my naive film-shooting years..

can't get rid of them now.

I must really be bad. They don't even want me.

I actually recieved an awaard from them for second place in this year's competition! After refusing to buy the book, travel to Las Vegas and even acknowledge their emails, a boxed medal arrived last week with a letter explaining what it was.

So perhaps not a scam but a very high pressured sales/promotion staff!

I received the same email today and fell for it. It was only after I thought about it and did a google search - which is how I found this place - that I realized it is a scam. I suppose you can blame me for being a naive 19 year old who was overjoyed at the thought that finally my dedication had been recognised.
At least I know now and won't make the same mistake. I just hope that others think first and try to find out as much about it as they can before they do what I did.

I've gotten 3 emails and 1 post mailed letter from them in the past 2 weeks. I generally get this several times a year since sending a picture to picture.com about 4 years ago.
05/30/2007 09:09:06 PM · #20
I sent a pic of our SPRINTCAR and they say I have won an award (crystal) and a medallion???

My question has anyone NOT WON SOMETHING FROM THIS GUY AND OR THIS MOB??

BUY THE WAY THEY NEED $169.00 TO SEND THEM TO ME!! IS THAT THE SCAM ?! THE COST MUST BE THE SAME TO SEND STUFF WORLD WIDE DUE TO I LIVE DOWNUNDER (IN AUSTRALIA)
05/30/2007 10:05:33 PM · #21
That's part of it. Another part isn't really a SCAM as such, but they apparently print a book annually and charge you a large amount to buy it so that you can see a small view of your photo in print.
Sure, you win things and get into print, but you have to pay for everything along the way!

I got mine last week, I was excited for about 2 minutes till I realized what it was, I hate this stuff, plays with your ego.
05/30/2007 10:10:34 PM · #23
Since it is not quite a scam, it must be a scum.
Like nobody, I must not be good enough to be selected either.
