I have been meaning to get a light meter for some time now or ever since I got my bowens lights about 6 months ago. I thought I could do without one and just play it by my gut feeling and reading histograms but now I am starting to want to set up more complex lightsetups so I definately need one.

Have my eyes set on this one, I like the fact that it has a spot meter and is weatherproof so that I can both use it at landscape and location photography in shitty weather and in the studio. I can afford it but I still think it´s a bit expensive so if anyone knows of a similar lightmeter in quality that has similar features I´d be most grateful if somebody would point them out to me.

I am however 100% set on buying from B&H since I have to order online and I have come to trust them so don´t bother giving me tips on where to buy it but I most welcome any and all input on light meters as I have never used one and don´t know what is what. Thanx in advance! :)

the 358 model does 99% of the same stuff. it lackes the spot meter and costs $200 or something less. you can get the PW trigger for it for arond $50 if you need that feature.
I have the 358 and love it.

Good choice.

I have a 3 x light Bowens setup, ( 2 x 500W and a 250W), and have the Sekonic L-358. If money wasn't so tight I would've opted for the 558. I've used the 558 with the 1 degree spot and although not an absolute neccessity it's a very nice feature to have.

If it fits in your budget then get it.

Well if you guys say the 358 does the same stuff pretty much minus the spotmeter I think I´ll save myself 200$. I mean I CAN afford the 558 model, just don´t want to waste money either, I can use that 200$ on something else instead.

I just bought myself the Polaris Dual 5 today for $500 (Aus). Gotta learn how to use it now! ;)
