I'm now thinking comments should be required.

Do you consider a 5.5 score to be bad? Could put into words what quality of picture would deserve a 5.5?

Yes, I would consider it bad based on how well I think the photo is; looking at the photo from the technical perspective. Yes, I am biased, but technically the photo is perfect.

No, I don't have time to sit here and vote on every challenge, and each photo. I try to comment as much as possible, but I usually only make it to the 20% mark before quitting.

Then how would you define a score of 3.6+/-? You have over a thousand votes and your vote cast is almost 2 full points lower than what you define as a BAD picture. In my opinion if you are receiving votes of 2 points higher than you give; I don't see a justification in complaining.
Just my "respectful" two cents.

Hmmm, seems the score debate is raising it's head again :)

My 2c... While I still have to break the 6 mark (may still get there on the photojournalism thing 5.8), I consider a 5+ a good photograph. Besides, this is just for fun.

Maybe the way in which you presented your subject matter is technically perfect but aesthetically bad ?

bazz.

I don't know... I think it's perfect. I'm stubborn too.

If you feel that contests average a 3.5, how could you expect people to recognize the excellence of your photos? They clearly don't know any better.

Great point... I'm in the wrong place. Thanks for shining the light so I could see.

Hey take it easy on this guy, he's 85 after all (check the profile). Technical excellence may include a bit of camera shake at that age...or maybe the cataract is causing a color cast...most likely it's just senility and his score really is good, he's just forgotten.

hahahaha, thanks for the laugh... something tells me you viewed my profile before I have decided to pull everything off and quit it.

Guess your not as quick a learner as you suggested in one of your earlier posts here.

cheers,

What is this supposed to mean? Simply because I don't want to be a member of this site anymore I suddenly don't learn so quick? How can you possibly connect those dots?

I think he was saying he's not surprised you are doing time in the 5.5's before you rise to stellar heights...
