Can't wait to get out and use it.
Any tips? Esspesialy with the IS stuff, not got my head around that yet...
Now i need to save again for some L glass.
Not taken any shots yet apart from a few of my living room just to test it you understand.

Tips? I don't know if these are worthy for such a high moniker but I'll give it a stab. So far, my only experience with IS is with my S2 IS.
#1 IS on 'shoot only' if such a thing is an option.
#2 If tripod mounted or IS is not necessary (high shutter speed), you might try turning it off. Sometimes it's superfluous.
#3 get light on your subjects to stop motion. It's really good for preventing camera shake, but you don't get much room to play with at the telephoto end thanks to a fairly narrow max aperture.
Pay extra attention to lighting. You might think you can get away with a bit more because of the IS and compensating your exposure, but you might not find this works so well in practice. Same deal with ISO.
Enjoy using it in ridiculously low shutter speed situations where you steady your hands. If you can keep the camera relatively still, you would be surprised how much you can get away with... I've shot sharp pictures at full telephoto at 1/20 just by bracing my body and being VERY still.
Be gentle with the shutter button as always. It's a cause of far more camera shake than any other thing (in my experience). With a DSLR, the shutter button is a bit stiffer, so be careful that you don't get haphazard with your button presses.
That's all I can think of... |

| awesome lens. it's the lens that's on my camera most of the time....but then again there's a canon 17-40mm f/4L sitting on my porch right now waiting for me to return from work. when u use the IS hold down the shutter button about a half second longer before actually taking the shot. the IS sometimes jumps when it first comes on. and when you have it on a tripod turn the IS off. otherwise it'll make the picture vibrate. |
