I am a mom (3 sons-20, 16, 14), do the books for my husband's and my company, volunteer at my sons' schools, treasurer of my son's Boy Scout troop, officer of the band booster club until May 30, treasurer of the high school PTA next year, and bowl in a league. We are also in the process of selling our house which is NO fun! I joined our local camera club this year, and of course I push the update button as often as possible!

Day job includes meetings, meetings, and more meetings; answering email and clearing out the "you've exceeded your limit" email box; creating briefings, presenting briefings, re-creating briefings (which are generally too large to fit in my email box); appraisals, managing, mentoring (ha!); and did I mention meetings? I also sneak peeks at DPC when I get a chance to sit at my desk.

Other activities - I rather enjoy riding my bike as often as possible. Was on a ride last weekend when we had to stop and check a mechanical issue on a friend's bike. While stopped, a whole wave of much, much faster riders (40 or 50 of 'em) came roaring by. Nothing like the sound of all those chains and tires and the "whoosh" as the pack goes by!

I like to read - but mostly fiction (get enough of "real life" in real life.) Then there are the usual pesky and annoying yet necessary chores, which I've desperately tried to train the cats to do, but they've failed miserably. Their only skills are shedding, scratching furniture, and somehow managing to get kitty litter throughout every single nook, cranny, and crevice in my house. I have no idea how they do that so effectively.

Edit to add - I'm also a professional thread-killer, though not as proficient as Bear.

Yet another programmer - the titles change all the time; although the last 18 years have been broken into: 7 years wondering why people pay me to have this much fun to 7 years of well I know that will hurt in the morning but it's your money to 4 years of internal screaming - I hate to think what's next :-)

Hmmm, I have the same job as Melethia, except I don't create briefings. I create project plans, processes, and other large documents that fill the email boxes of my colleagues. Actually, my job title is Information Engineer :-) (seriously - although I am more a mass-producer of emails and meetings than anything else!)

Whenever I have the time, I like to take pictures (duh!), mess around in the garden trying to make things grow, hike (easy, not all sporty), and travel. I used to love cooking, but it got prioritized downward with the onset of photography.

I have two degrees, three educational certifications, and for the past four years, I've been the program director and counselor for the prenant and parenting teen population at our school district. Prior to that I taught Public Speaking/Theatre Arts/Life Science/Teen Leadership to 7th and 8th graders at our district's middle school.

In my current position, I work with about 50 young women and their babies every school year. Occasionally I get to work with the fathers, but not often. I handle home visits, parent training, family counseling, group and peer counseling, college and vocational counseling, and coordinate medical case/social service agency management for each student. I also manage the child care staff for the daycare on site, used by the teen parents as well as the children of school district employees.

In my free time (HAHAHA) I take a picture or three. :)

I studied at the Academy of Art 6 years ago, but I quit after a year. I wasn't satisfied about the education at that school and besides that I was nearly 18 and I guess I was a bit too young for studying at an academy of art.

I decided to start with a study English, but I had to quit after 2 years because my parents both got cancer and finally passed away. After that I got some health problems and I wasn't able to work and study anymore. Now I'm studying at home for graphic designer and I'm planning to start with a study for professional photographer when I've got the money for it.

In my free time I spend some time on creating a magazine every 2 months and helping some people in an institute for those who need care or rest. Don't know what this thing is called in English.

I also like to spend some time with my dog on the beach.

I predict the current interval (4 years of internal screaming) will extend to 7 years, just as the first two did. Your next 21 year cycle will begin in 3 years.

I hope this helps, :)

I do WAY too much in the way of work. I own a Landscape Design and Installation company that designs and installs landscapes, ponds and waterfalls. I also own a wholesale plant nursery. I started these companies about six and four years ago after quitting my 16 year job as an Air Traffic Controller during a child custody struggle.

Now, I am a divorced, full time father of my twelve year old son (who seems to be getting a head start on the dreadful teen years). He is 98% of my life outside of work. Actually, the lack of a driver and a competent foreman in my landscape and waterfall company keeps me working too many hours and I am feeling more and more lately that I have to give up on one of my businesses to spend more time with my son. He is what is most important to me and I believe that I am a great father, although I'm not perfect. I just feel that parents are obligated (for at least 18 to 25 years) to make the children that they brought into this world their number one priority and to do their best to raise them to lead happy and fulfilling lives of their own. Parents can resume seeing to themselves later in life.

My brother and I have been working on a website to promote the sales of my photography prints (most of which are not yet in my DPC portfolio). I dream of transitioning out of landscapes and waterfalls and supplementing my nursery income with sales of prints. About two more weeks before launching the website.

For fun, I like to sail. I lived on my 37' sailboat during the two and a half years before Hurricane Andrew. I plan to live on a mid-forty foot catamaran part time, just prior to and during retirement.

I also like to kayak. I have four kayaks, one each for: cruising, kayak surfing, one for two or three people, and a quality inflatable for airline carry-on baggage when I travel.

White water rafting wherever I find class IV or better rapids.

I travel a bit. Last couple of years I've traveled to Costa Rica (three times), Puerto Rico (twice), Dominican Republic, Las Vegas-Grand Canyon-Utah (in one 5 day trip), Florida Keys (numerous times), Breckinridge Colorado (skiing/snowboarding) and North Georgia/North Carolina/Tennessee (three times).

I like to cook. I have a couple of things that I cook that I am happy with (finally). I am very critical of my cooking and always felt that I had a lot of room for improvement. But now, I can proudly and honestly say, that I cannot find a restaurant that can cook a steak better than I can, or any place that makes better salsa. I am continually disappointed with steaks when I eat out.

Well, that's not all, but it's a lot. I really don't have much time outside of work and my son, but I don't plan on working too much longer. I look forward to doing more of what I like to do.

I work fulltime on a school for children with learning- and behaviour problems (special kids with ADHD, autism, dyslectic etc., who need special attention) for 7 years now.

We work with small classes (6-7 years max 12 kids, the rest max. 16 kids per class), and I'm an assistent of the teacher.

I work with small groups of kids from 6-7 years old (6 kids), they're in the beginning of the learning process of reading and math. And lots and lots of other stuff I'm not gonna bore you guys with ;-)

At wednesdays I work with a kid (7 years old) with a type of autism, just for fun actually.

Next schoolyear I'll be working 4 days a week, so I can focus one day every week on photography :)

EDIT: this was really hard to explain in English (in Dutch it takes 2 minutes to describe what I do ;)) I hope this makes sense!

Wow Robert, what a Renaissance Man! If I had any single friends, I'd be pushing them on you.

Surely you have one! I feel almost hopeless with the attitudes and the values that I encounter here in Miami.

I can see that. Miami seems like a tough place to be someone like you. I'll keep an eye out for a cool gal. What's your sign?
