I've been waiting for this lens for a looooooong time on two or three waiting lists. This morning I got an e-mail from B&H that it was back in stock, so I frantically went ahead and ordered it. An hour or so later it went out of stock again, or so their website shows anyway. But MY order apparently went through, and the lens already has been shipped. Woo-hoo! Just in time for my upcoming trip to Russia next month! I hope I won't be disappointed with it.

[should've ordered two and sell one on e-bay: they sell there for nearly 1K vs $750 list price. :)]

Wow, I am jealous! I am still waiting for mine. I wonder why I didn't get an email from B&H. I might have beat you too it. ;)

I actually have ordered mine from small little camera shop in town. They are only charging me $729, but I'll have to pay tax on it, so B&H would still be cheaper, but I figure it will be nice to support the local economy. I just hope it will arrive before I leave for Europe in September.

Anyway, enjoy the lens and post some pics from it soon. Also, post how you like it when you get a chance to use it.

Cheers,

Jeremy.
did you click on the "notify me when in stock" button on B&H? I guess you should if you want to get yours sooner rather than later. Apparently, big stores like B&H get a bit more lenses than small "mom & pop" stores. At least, when I called two other (smaller) online stores where I was on waiting lists to cancel today, they told me that they still get next to nothing.

I sure will post pics from this lens as soon as I get it, especially because I intend to part with my 18-70 and 70-300mm lenses - that was the whole idea :).

Hey Lev,
Yah, I had clicked on the notify me when in stock button, but maybe it forgot to send me the email. ha. I sure can't wait to get mine as I have already gotten rid of the 18-70, so I am just shooting with my 24mm and 50mm in that range. Requires a little more foot work. I went back to B&H and resubmit my email address in case they get some more in.

Have fun with the new lens.

Wow...I just started looking about a week ago. No luck. I'm on waiting list at Amazon. Currently looking at new on ebay. Running about 900 though.

I'm willing to pay b/c I will sell my 2 other lenses and an old laptop after I purchase!

Jeremy: thanks! :)

Ken: are you selling your Micro-Nikkor 60mm? Are you not happy with it? I was actually thinking of getting one, either 60mm or 105mm. Would be interesting to get your thoughts on it...

Sorry Jeremy...I'm keeping the 60mm. It is a great lens for general use but very good for my macro shots! I recommend it if you have the need.

I'll be selling my kit 18-70mm lens that came with my body and my 70-300mm.

Let me know if you'd like one of those before I put on ebay.

Let me know how you like your new 18-200.
