Wow, just checked out your portfolio. I am glad to see the lack of formal training and fisher price camera is holding you back at scores of 7 and 8. In 2 years time when you qualify and can afford a D3x we will really be in trouble!! Great work and a good decision, but how about giving the rest of us a chance in the challenges once in a while. Being ambitious is one thing but stop being so selfish with the ribbons!!!

I'm just amazed that you actually have to ask someone else's permission to change jobs. Are you also required to consult the authorities when it's time to use the restroom?

hahah, like you are going to really struggle...

You'll have no problems.. strange because I already thought you was a pro photographer. Best of luck.. this is my last year in `normal` employment before I go fulltime with my photography. To be honest, if I get another 5 bookings for this year I am going to have to seriously consider jacking in the day job.

I'm not going to wish you luck......you don't need it.

You keep that terrific eye and that sense of humor and I'll be expecting great things for you.

Don't forget us little people when you're rich and famous......8>)

Well if you are a pro now, looks like you are going to need a new tripod this one is missing a leg:)

Hehe, thx guys, I am very optimistic, only thing I miss about having a boss and a 9-17 job is the security, I have a wife and two kids after all but I would rather try something and fail rather than spending the rest of my life wondering what could have been... :)

It's not missing. It's just not completely extended at the moment :P

I'm very happy to hear about your progress Larus! The fact that you were laid off I'm sure was meant to be and what is required for you to fly with your own wings. Maybe time for a Serendipity II challenge?

Thanks for the update on your life, Larus -- especially since I missed the 2006 and 2007 postings. :-)
... and glad to have you back!

Larus - this is splendid news. I have worried a bit about our Icelandic friends during the on-going economic crisis that is especially difficult for your country. But after reading (and rereading) about your accomplishments over the past couple of years I know that everything is going to be just fine.

Happy shooting. And belated Happy Birthday.

:-))

Congrats Larus, good to hear you're going out on your own, I personally think you'll do just fine with the talent and experience you have. Look forward to seeing how it goes for you man.

Wow...for a long time now, I assumed you were a professional photographer and if you weren't, that you should be! I don't think anybody could ever be less than impressed with your work...had I the money, I wouldn't hesitate to employ your services! I think you have a bright future ahead of you and from all the photogs I've come accross on DPC, yours is the star that shines the brightest and the one I would expect above all others to succeed! So, I offer you my congratulations and my best wishes for you and your new career...I hope to hear many great things from you in the future.

Regards
Paulo.
