I recently bought a Canon 20d (which I love), but I am having a problem with some of my pictures. It seems that I get a black mark on some of my photos, but not on all of them. It doesn't seem to be a lens problem because the problem exists regardless of which lens I use. Not every picture is affected, however, so it may be a problem with settings. I have added a (deliberately blurred and over exposed) picture of a white envelope so the black mark is visible in the upper left corner of the photo (you'll have to click on the thumbnail to see the mark). Does anyone have any ideas or advice about why the black mark appears and what I should do about it? Thanks for all help.

Looks like a stamp to me.
Ohh you said upper left :) Looks like a spec dust on the sensor. A quick once over with a good blower should get rid of that one.
cheers,
bazz.

Looks like a dirty sensor to me also.
If it shows up at F22 and not f2.8 ... the sensor needs to be cleaned. |

To check to see if it's a dirty sensor, set the camera to aperature priority then set the aperature to the highest number, smallest aperature. Then point the camera at the sky, or a wall; something with a bright, flat color. If the sensor has gunk on it, then it will show up this way. |
