not surprised I guess but still bummed. Their ZD hasn't been doin so hot and they used most of their resources in R&D for it. The date of the buyout is september but it's pretty much official.

Are hasselblad and rollei the only medium format digital camera makers now? I thought I heard pentax was gonna step to it.

yeah, pentax has a new one out, i thnk its 18 MP.

sounds like a bunch of companies are gonna be joining the digita l photo market too though, companies like big companies, i think walmart has something brewing!

all the big electronics companies want to jump into the digital camera market. not just point and shoots either. they are looking into slrs as well.

it's all over the internet and in magazines. i think POP photo has an article on it in their latest issue.

What about Phase One and Leaf digital backs?

I believe it's scheduled for release in conjuntion with Photokina later this year. Depending on which source you believe it's either an 18MP or a 22MP body. One Pentax executive recently referred to it as a 22mpixel MF body.

What happened to Bronica? Did they hang it up too, or where they part of Konica?

I have an old Mamiya C220. It was/is a great camera.

Actually, the latest post in the original engadget thread claims the company is just being sold and the cameras will continue in full force by the new owner. Hope so, it would be a loss of a pretty unique product line otherwise.
