ok, mine's looking good. it's inverted, but i've played with curnes etc, 'til it kind of looks posterized. what do you think - will i get nailed?

I've seen 2 tutorials on creating negative images. One says that it should have no color, one shows pics WITH color..anybody have an idea what this challenge is looking for?

I had my shot on Day 2 and I am not (I repeat NOT) going to change my mind again (like I've mistakenly done in the past). This one's a winner and it won't be like anyone else's shot either.

SJ - I snuck a peak at your negative entry and really think you should change it. ;-)

I hope this isn't what you were thinking previous to color portriat going to vote - lol. I am looking forard to this one as well. I think I have something pretty good, but you just never know.

I'm struggling with finalising my entry. I've submitted a colour image but I'm not sure it isn't better in black and white. Only trouble is, in colour it's obviously negative, but in b&w, it might just conceivably look real.

If only I knew how to make my mind up (and not just about this). Somehow I always seem to make the wrong decision.

Good good good. I think we have a chance at getting two wins in a row in the WPL. We need a good boost. I didnt enter windows but I did in negative. Hoping for a 6+ if voters are kind.

Hmm...was just thinking, shouldn't the entry with the MOST "negative" comments win...?

*hee hee*

Well... You can have the red or the yellow, but blue is mine. Ok, probably not, but I'm also hoping to make up for some lovely shots that I knew would get dismal DPC scores that I've been entering lately...

So there.

;)

All I know is, my photo is going to be the first to ever receive nothing but 10s, as long as you ignore all the 1-9 scores which are obviously troll votes.

Called it "Double Negative"

I had a similar idea to actually take a photo of a film negative (x-ray) and then invert it. But likewise, figured it'd get snagged on the original art issue.

But I think my current entry is fun...

Negative Images, created in Photo Shop

Just a simple two step tutorial to help you make the negative images you get when you get a set of photos.

Firstly, we need a photo to work with, so open up a photograph that you have, perhaps one you found on the internet, or one you took yourself.

I am using this photo of some of the brave soldiers fighting in Iraq that I found on the internet

(Ignore this next step if for whatever reason you have a black and white photograph)

(Now, as photo negatives are not in colour), the first thing we need to do is to remove colour from the photograph. This is done by going to Image->Adjustments->Desaturate (the shortcut to which is Shift+Ctrl+U).

The photo should now be in black and white. To make it into a photo negative image, go to Image->Adjustments->Invert (Ctrl+I).

You are now done, the final image should look like this

If you have any questions concering this tutorial, please ask on the Forum

This is from Photoshop tutorial
Guess I dont know where all the color is comming from
Seems a negative image should not have color in it ?
Or at least anything created in photoshop out of a color print is not a negative..Photoshop cannot make a true color negative.

Color negatives are not black and white. Hold one up to a light sometime.
