There was some lightning and very little rain in my neck of woods (and some other parts got tennis-ball-size hail so I'm not complaining!)

Here are two shots I managed to scramble this evening. (the first three are the different takes on the same shot)

Opinions are welcome!

Thank you!

I'll add exif to the images soon, but here it is for now:
ISO 100, 50mm f/1.8 @ 2.5"
and
ISO 100, 50mm f/2.8 @ 2.0"

Looks great. We didn't get any rain over where I'm at (near Driftwood).

Great work and captures. Left you a comment on #4. BTW could you post your setting Amp, SS, and ISO? That would be great.

my lawn looked like a driving range. Big lumps of ice all over the place.

Some were about 1" across.

*pout*... I'll trade you three earthquakes for one good thunderstorm!

Very nice shots! Nothing of that sort down here (San Antonio) but there's a possibility tomorrow night... we can only hope there may be actual rain!

Yeah... I was at my Boy Scout meeting and saw this storm scoot to the north of us. Looked promising for a bit and I wanted to get my camera... but had a room full of Boy Scouts to deal with ;-). Nice pictures.

Thanks!

The last one reminded me of a Dire Straits cover for their Love Over Gold album (that I will put in my CD player right now).

See what I mean:

Wow was that a storm last night. Im off of mopac and steck and we didnt get much rain but the clouds looked crazy, wind was blowing, and lightining was going off like crazy. I just got my 350d monday so I was'nt about to try adn go shoot it yet.

I notcied off to the west under the dark clouds near the horizon it was all orange kinda like your 3rd picture. I have never seen that before.

Here at Ft. Hood, we just had clouds. This is the best I got from Sunset.

Apparently, the storm was narrow (judging by the doppler image, only 10-15 miles), and that orange burning sky was the clear skies beyond the storm.

Like in this one:

(this is from the same series, only no lightning happened when I took these :-()

And another one:

Wow, love the shots. That deep blue is great! Sounds like that storm is heading my way here in Dallas. I'll have to stay up and see if the lightning comes with it. Nice work, thanks for posting.
