What are your thoughts on this - a newspaper ad, 2 columns wide 2 inches tall.

Input of HS juniors/seniors and their parents MOST wanted!

TIA

I just have a comment on your "100 free wallets with this ad".
If someone walks in and say they want their 100 free wallets, is that how it works? They don't have to pay for the session or anything else?
I'm assuming this is not the case, but that's what someone can understand from your ad, and this can cause you legal problems, I think.

Just a heads up :)

As far as the design goes, it looks good to me. I agree with mecfcosta about the clarity of that statement though... not sure what you might put in its place though. "100 wallet-size prints at no extra charge with this ad" maybe?

I know nothing about advertising, but instead of putting the 100 free wallets, what if you put 'special offer upon mention of this ad' or something. That way you'll get people calling you or dropping in to find out what the special offer is? You may have to do one of those code thingies.

It looks OK. A little busy, but that's the nature of these small ads. I'd say "our studio" instead of "the studio", it sounds more professional. I'd worry a lot about the "100 Free Wallets" bit; surely someone is gonna come in and say "Shoot me and give me 100 wallets free of charge!", and someone else is gonna look for 100 little leather folders they can get from you free and resell at the swap meet :-)

I'd want to make it clear; "Mention this ad when booking your session and receive receive free of charge 100 wallet-size prints from a single pose" but you can't fit all that into a newspaper ad...

You could asterisk it and have a small line at the bottom: "Ask us for details on this offer" or something like that...

Maybe...
"bring in this ad and receive 100 free wallets with purchase of any package"

I do like the design also, looks good.

this is just my personal opinion, but all the phrases ending with ! seem to shout at me! I don't like to be yelled at. photo is nice, design i think could be improved with robert's advice and smaller text

Yeah that's good. Hard to fit into the allotted space though...

Silly question, but did you get a model release?

Sometimes those "of course you can use my photo in your ad" people decide that they're worth a little more once they open the newspaper.

uh, Prof, you might want to clarify that you mean wallet size. Some might take you up on actual wallets. :)

My 2 cents says 100 free wallets is TOO much. 100 wallets would have been all I needed to hand out to friends in high school. Half the fun of senior pics is handing them out to your friends so I think you are giving away too many of one of your best sellers.

IMO, 20 free wallets would be sufficient.

I really don't understand the "senior" thingie, so I thought I'd get 100 wallets.. like actual wallets :P

I think the ad is a bit busy, don't you think you could bring the text back, or choose only one color (black or white) for the text?

Like the photo!

Text: newprint is rather absorbent, so quality of reproduction is poor. I tried black and white text seperately and neither had 'pop' to it. I could of course not go with a full photo BG, but I think as a photographer my ad shold feature a photo as prominently as possible.

This particular girl bought 700 wallets. Is 100 too much? The cost me 10c each - so that is $10. MANY places charge $1 to #2 each. So in some ways perhaps it is too much, but then it isn't...

this ad is getting randomly places in the newspaper...i have no input as to where. Sports maybe (I hope as I think kids read the sports pages), or the first section (hard news is most likely the ad guy says)

So I'll go fix the wallets bit and be right back with a new improved version...

I like it :) 50 seems more reasonable. 700 sounds like a TON of wallets! WOW!
