Finally I decided not to take the 20D but a 30D, the reasons are
1. I don't own a 20D
2. 30D has better performance, and it is only $200 more than the 20D
3. resale value on 30D would be better after 1-2 years.
I went to hitcamera on Sat., this guy told me it is $1560+tax and he said there isn't any store that could ofer as low as him. I decided to go to Adencamera again, and I finally got it for $1500+taxÂBÂBÂF)
so far i am pretty happy with it..:D

Congrats on the 30D. It was a hard choice for me too. I decided to go with the 20D because of a few things, mainly availability. I got mine when the 30D was just announced and I didn't want to wait.
I wasn't aware of a performance difference between the two - I was only aware of the new 'picture styles' default settings. What new performance enhancements with the 30D are there?

The best thing about the camera is the RAW software which comes with!
I'm going back and re-doing my Rebel photos with the Digital Photo Proffesional tool :-)

DPP is cool - but the images it shows you are just thumbnails from the RAW files - not super accurate.
I;m still learning my 30D - the picture style thing and Cfn and such. I like it, but I ned more RAM now - the files images are 1/3 larger than my rebel and my computer is complaining! LOL

picture styles, i think faster FPS or at least more of them in a row (5 or 3 fps - you can switch- lg fine JPG you can do 30 frames at 5fps, 37 at 3fps, or 11 RAW.), a larger LCD, more metering modes (including spot), .15 sec startup vs .2, i think it has longer battery life, i belive it has newer/better AF system (from the 5D), more durable shutter, ISO options in 1/3 step and probably more minor things.

You get 1/3 steps on ISO? That's awesome. I haven't gotten into a situation where I've needed it, but I often wondered how much more options it'll give ya.
Granted a person can do the same thing with 1/3 stops for shutter and lens, but I would think that on ISO it would afford you a slight advantage for ease of use.
That's cool.

I think the best advantage is the central point metering, I was nikon user before, this function is what I used to familiar with, it does make me happy...:)
some people said 30D focus speed is slightly better than 20D as well as the focus accuracy, I am not sure if this is true. hopefully there is :) |
