Oh well that was funny. I woke up this morning, and went off to the bathroom as is the custom... I should add that I live alone and have never owned a film camera.

I opened the door and saw...
and

The actual story is that my roommate sold me his L lens and I've been providing VERY MINOR assistance in his selling his 85mm f/1.8 too. Anyhow, he thought it might be nice to let me use his 1n for a little while as I don't actually have a body to use with my lens (yet).

It's just funny to me that he thought to leave it on my toilet (which is actually a good place because it's quite private although it's public access on the rooftop where I live.

It's going to be a FUN weekend! I've already got 3 separate fun shoots planned from earlier in the week. Using my L lens with a pro body is going to be pretty amazing. Now I just have to figure out how to put film in it!!!

Don't touch it!!! You have already have a problem with buying an L lens without a camera :) and a 1-series will push you completely over the edge. If you touch it and connect your lens then you might find that body you wanted is now a 1-series digital - run away before it's too late :-) If you are already past that point then enjoy - that is a nice camera!!

Wow, what a lot of fun!

So we went and shot the model airplane show and what a hoot. Little tiny jets! Biplanes hovering, nose facing upwards, a foot off the ground! Eyepopping aerobatics with machines so small they don't need to worry about ripping off the wings in flight when they do a 180 tailwhip at speed. A wild little 2-engine F22 replica that was pulling out of nose dives at like 200mph and buzzing the airstrip. Fantastic stuff.

I can't show any of the pics from the 1n yet because it's film and I only took half a roll (expected to do some more shooting afterwards... didn't)

I'll post some later from my S2. Only used it for about 10 minutes though.

One of the highlights was an 8 year old boy flying this rather large and totally wicked 150cc plane that's probably 8-9 feet wide at the wingtips. He was REALLY good with it. In fact, of the 3 "WOW's" from the audience while I was there, he got 2 of them.

The 1n is one heck of a camera. Monstrous viewfinder and just an overall serious machine. The learning curve for using it was remarkably steep. Even for someone who has very little experience shooting SLR types, I had little trouble adjusting after around 30 seconds. That's not to say that I took great pictures with it, just that it was surprisingly easy to use.

AF on that camera is scary fast. Wow. I took a picture of a cute girl in the audience and after composing it and locking down, in the time it took for me to decide to press the button until the time I actually pressed it, someone reached their hand into the frame with a "V" sign and I could do nothing but watch as the camera jumped to focus on the hand, missing it, then attempted to move focus back to the girl before the mirror flipped up and took what I assume will be a badly out of focus picture.

That blew me away.

Panning with the camera was a joy and as I have been getting a little better at that lately, I expect to pull a couple of decent shots!
