I'd think the US would have at least two, maybe more? San Francisco and New England seem like obvious spots to me... |

Airfare from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota to Iceland: $1100USD
Airfare from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota to say Boston, MA: $230USD |
I really can´t figure out how you get those prices..
if you can get to Boston for $230 then it's only $549 return ticket to Iceland from Boston, so that makes it $779 from St.Paul to Iceland and back ! or you could just fly directly from St.Paul to Iceland and back for $549 :)
just checked.. $599 return ticket from San Fransisco to Iceland, direct flight.
and $549 from Orlando to Iceland return ticket.

This is the only way to decide short of having some kind of sponser decide for you. |

lol.. pick the country that is as far away as you can get from most DPC member ;)
how about Antartica ? that way everyone has to travel similar distance and it can't be in favor of any specific member :)
just remember to bring a thermal blanket for your camera ;)

I disagree somewhat. I believe that this event should have an organizational staff selected first. Then that staff will select the venue. You will never get a quorum on anything from a poll here. You would have to trust the organizational staff to choose an acceptable place to do this.
I have been a part of lots of different organizations where national annual conventions are part of the norm. The members of the organization are never polled to choose a meeting place. The organizers always determine that and then the members choose whether or not they want to attend. The organizers always do a lot of research into making the event venue acceptable to most.

When I think to myself what I would want out of a DPC GTG, the opportunity to oggle boobs with Bear_Music is very high up on the list. |

I just want to party with other DPC peeps. I'd go to an event in Eastern US. I probably would only bring my SD300 too ... I'd rather carry a backpack full of beer. I wouldn't mind NYC or Boston.

Iceland sounds so appealing! It would only cost me $5022 to fly there from here...LOL (and no, that is not first class!)
