In my post above, I clearly asked that this thread NOT become yet another reincarnation of the DQ-for-DNMC debate. That discussion has been very well covered elsewhere. If discussion continues along those lines, I will lock the thread.

Well if it's the position of the management - to not take a position then so be it.

Rick,
Please don't think that we're trying to dismiss the issue. Nothing could be further from the truth. We've posted several times that ALL of the feedback, opinion, and suggestions *has* been taken into consideration. Future technical challenges *will* incorporate special rules to try to avoid this type of issue in the future.
It's just that continued discussion of the same subject is generating no new information, just additional argument, which detracts from the DPC forums instead of adding.
If there are additional discussion point or ideas related specifically to the EXIF question, feel free to discuss them here. There have been some good points and ideas thrown out.
Regards,
kirbic

Actually, there are good technical reasons why some information is good.
For example, when critiquing a challenge entry knowing what the exact shutter speed or f/stop are would allow me to make specific setting suggestions to a photographer to help them improve their photography in some situations, usually those related to DOF.
As it is you can't tell if the photographer made a real settings error or not that resulted in excessively shallow DOF or some other defect that ruined a image. EXIF data would be valuable to make that determination.
Btw, the DNMC crowd doesn't need actual reasons to vote images lower. Lacking real evidence they will just make something up. ;)
