I won't be the photographer for this (and yes, after checking out my portfolio, I'm sure you're all breathing a sigh of relief ;) ), but I do need ideas.

My family has a couple of free portraits from The Bay in town for pictures. We had our basic family shot done this past weekend. This was my husband, both kids and myself - all in new white T-shirts and blue jeans. Hubby and I sitting on the floor, legs going outwards, with the kids sitting in front of us. Kind of difficult to describe, but it turned out well I think - at least on thier preview screen.

Now, coming up, we've got 2 more portraits to do, and I want something more creative than the "stand side by side" studio shot we've all seen.

First one will be my mom (55 yrs, 5'2, average build, short dark hair, glasses), me (29 yrs, 5'5, "plus sized", long blonde hair, glasses), my son (3.5 yrs, blonde) and my daughter (1.5 yrs, blonde). My mom has suggested that she and I dress in darker casual clothes, and dress the kids a bit brighter.

Second will be just my husband and I. Hubby is about 5'8, thin, and very photogenic. I'm 5'5, fat and ugly. *sigh*

Any ideas how we can make these look good ?

I can't think of anything offhand, but peruse the portrait section of the photos on this website and see if anything comes up that you like.

I started doing that this morning, but got distracted by the kids. I'll probably go back to that while they nap this afternoon.

Okay - I went through all 84 pages of family photos in the gallery, and didn't find any that would suit the multi-generation family portrait I have coming up.
