Shot a wedding yesterday with crabappl3 and really got to take the Lightsphere II for a spin. I'm pretty pleased with the results, being that these were all in a dark (I mean DARK) church and a gymnasium without the overhead lights. Danny brought strobes for the formals, which helped immensely. Thank you so much for helping!!

I still have little clue what I'm doing as far as settings are concerned, but I did have the opportunity to shoot in manual and shutter priority for the first time (yeah, it's taken me 2 years to get to that point). The wedding was chaos and the reception doubly so, but overall I think we got some great pictures for the young couple.

I think I'm going to do b/w of a lot of these because the bride's skin has such an orange cast. I think she had been using a self tanner or something. I'm still tweaking the color but these are some quickies. :)

One more bump...surely somebody has some kind of critique or advice. Either they're so great you are all speechless or they all suck so badly that no one wants to tell me so.

Well, if you can't say something nice then...just kidding!

How do like PPing tons of pics? Fun, huh? LOL

I have higher hopes for my next wedding - my first 2 were me very much in the BG. the one i did in feb was me all the way, and it turned out OK, but I'm learning that the mroe the couple wants (values) good photography the better the photos are (higher end folks all have shoes that match for example, pick prettier venues, have nicer dishes, food and the like)

I have read some on 'photojournalism' as it relates to weddings, and seen lots of images of course. What finally made it click in my head was seeing it happen as it happened, on a DVD - NOW i understand wedding PJ. Not so sure i can do a good job of it, but since reading a book on it for hte past week and watching an hour + on DVD, I have a whole 'nuther perspective and when i see you images it hits me - i HAVE learned to see the difference. perhaps, with luck, i can create it too as my next wedding is a paid one...pressure babay.

SO with that as a preamble, some are nice, but many have the bride (or others) looking directly at the camera. I think this is fine for formal shots, or hte one person in a crowd shots, but it stands out in your pics an dbothers me. I'm sure the b&g will love the images, do don't take my POV in any bad way. It's just me, and the way i see things today. tomorrow is another day.

This particular bride actually stopped people (including her new husband) and had them look at the camera rather than ignoring me and letting me shoot the candids that I prefer. I figured that if that's what they want, fine...it's their money.

Any other feedback? I have two weddings pending for May and would like to know what changes I should make.
