Studying the winning shots on dpc or those of successful photographers, I've noticed that they often use simplicity as an important element in the shot. Learning to get rid of the clutter and distractions can really improve pictures. Stripping a scene down to its most important elements can give it much more impact - focusing on one element such as a single color or a single subject or texture.
I'm not sure how you'd word it, but I'd like to see a challenge where we were forced to think about how to simplify the shot and exclude distractions. |

I agree with Nancy. How about challenge called "simplicity"... |

That is a large part of the 'fill the frame' principle - although not really in the way it has morphed into the challenge extreme. I could imaging 'simplicity' being similarly abused - more than 1 thing in the picture - doesn't meet the challenge. |

Single subjects can be highly interesting or boring. A challenge of single subject/simplicity in mind would surely be a challenge. I think the simple shot is sometimes the most difficult to get. |
