Why do members get all the fun challenges while we free riders only get the boring ones:(

Probably because it's an incentive to sign up as a member - although actually, I find I often prefer the open challenges. I haven't got any ideas for the two member challenges right now. I rarely watch movies and certainly don't generally memorize scenes from them....

Just pony up the money. It's a mere $25 a year. You could find that much in your living room sofa in a whole year. It's worth it. Then, your question becomes irrelevant.

well I dont have it actually ....
My woman has it and she could afford membership, while I swim with the fishes and get to use that Camera for good behavior once in a while;)

There is nothing stopping anyone from being inspired by the contest challenge to take pictures whether they belong to the board or or just lurking. True a paying member can have other critique it, but the board has to have some way of making money to pay for server space and band-width. My two cents worth is the board managers do a great job of balancing free and paid services. I guess can always see the glass as half full or half empty, yet some people would be delighted to have a glass at all.
