Mine is exactly 2 seconds. The "darn it" one I took at 1/6 second is a better picture, but it wasn't in the spirit of the challenge. The 2 second one is actually more interesting if you take the time to look at it. Besides, it was way fun to go back and re-shoot. I may detail how much fun in the description when I submit it. :-)
As for DNMC or "cheating", I see all these as assignments of a sort. By setting my shutter speed at two seconds, it was a learning experience to see what kind of shots I could get, and some that I couldn't.

Yeah.....it's not against the rules. And as long as everyone thinks it was two seconds you won't get voted down...

I'm having trouble with my 2-sec exposure......I got 25 good shots, narrowed down to 7....now I can't decide which to enter. All look like 2 sec exposures...and the EXIF will show they are 2 seconds exactly.
Edited to say - now narrowed to 4

Well...I'm in. Exactly 2 seconds. I have a great quote for this post but to use it would give my entry away so I'll just say that I am making top ten at least with this one.

Some of you people are cheaters, straight up. Why even bother to enter at all if you're just going to do your own thing instead of following the challenge description when it states a camera setting for you? I just hope the ribbon winning photos use exactly 2 seconds.
Anyway, I got mine in a couple days ago and it's exactly 2 seconds... although I have a feeling voters will say it DNMC because 2 seconds is implied in the photo as well. |

I'm in. My exposure was 4 seconds, but I cropped it exactly in half, so I should be ok. |

This will be a hard one to vote on. will take a bit of thought as to what can and can't be done with a 2-second exposre.

I'm feeling the same way and it's getting to the point that I don't want to enter because of this and the fact that everything must be overprocessed to score well. Also, voting is becoming a challenge in itself. :( |

I agree completely. It puts the ones who did keep within the 2 second rule at a disadvantage. Yes, mine is 2 seconds, and it is overexposed, but because of the nature of the photo, the overexposure actually enhances the idea behind it. I took at least 50 shots before I got one I liked, and all of them were taken at 2 seconds. Originally posted by MadMan2k: Some of you people are cheaters, straight up. in my shot for the challenge I used an advanced rear curtain strobe lighting ...I hope the voters will notice the difference :-) and of course 2 sec exposure :)

Meeting the challenge and the challenge description has always been what this site is about.
I started here with a p&s kodak 3700. There were many challenges that I couldn't/wouldn't enter because of the lack of capabilities of my camera. I still participated by voting and enjoying the wonderful shots of others and learned through their skill and comments.
Yes, I whined and wished that I had a better camera but the thought of a level playing field never entered into my mind. |

I sure as heck hope that the "fake" 2-second exposures don't beat out the real ones. It's a LOT easier to produce certain effects with 4, or 6, or 8 seconds than it is with 2 seconds. And the hell of it is we'll never know; the only people who see the EXIF data are SC, and they're sure not going to publish it just to satisfy our curiosity. So if the shooter doesn't own up to the "real" exposure in shis/her notes, we won't have a clue...
Personally, I took it as a challenge to learn what I could do with exactly 2 seconds. I decided what I wanted to do, and attempted it several times, and came up with what I think's a very nice shot. But I'd love to have been able to do the same shot at 8 seconds, or even 12 seconds, for reasons that will be clear when the challenge ends.
Robt.

I have a REAL 2 sec exposure entry, and since I plan on taking the BLUE with it, at least one fake wont out score the top runner.
