Hi all. I've been meaning to start this thread for a few weeks, but you know how time gets away from ya....

Like many of you, I still hold a full-time (day) job which keeps me from shooting much during the week. So by the weekend I'm DYING to go shoot - anywhere - anything. I hit loads of state parks, tourist attractions, etc., during my shooting weekends.

Last weekend I traveled down the nation's oldest highway - A1A - from where I live near Jacksonville to Daytona, stopping at state parks and beaches along the way - got lots of fun shots. Some good stock stuff.

This weekend I plan to visit a lovely park in central Florida Silver Springs on Saturday and probably the beach on Sunday. I will share some shots after.

Where do you plan to shoot this weekend? Where did you shoot last weekend? Share some pics with us!!

I am in the same boat. I live for my weekends since I am cooped up at my "real job" all week. I usually hit area parks, festivals or even just my back yard. Usually photographing wildlife, insects, scenery etc. This weekend I am going to a reptile show in Tampa and I don't think it will be that great for pics. Might try to hit the beach or head down to Myakka State Park one day as well.

I LOVE those kinds of days. I try to schedule them in as often as I can. I find all kinds of tresures just by wandering. Thank goodness for the Nav. system in my car or I'd be lost most of the time!

I was thinking of doing some studio shots in my office this weekend. Maybe some woodies for a change. I'll surprise ya. :)

I was to have my first real photo shoot for a Hip Hop group doing portraits and group photos in dowtown phoenix. I was going to try some street photography too.

But it seems that we are going to get rain all weekend which is ironic as Phoenix has been going through a drought and it hasn̢۪t rained in 140ish days. Man what a bummer!

I have to wait to use all the things I have learned from the DPC'ers.

Hope you all have a good weekend. Me I will be shooting shoes.

When I go to shoot, I 'try' to go to the gulf coast and the beaches and marinas. Sometimes, but not often, the Zoo. If not, I perch myself out my bedroom window where tons of wildlife are baited by me to show. Around the corner and throughout my neighborhood are also some lovely little ponds and lakes, a duck pond not far away that also has seaguls and a visiting heron now and then, and many birds - hawks, vultures, blue jays, and just all kinds of beautiful wildlife. A few miles away are pastures of wonderful cows, bulls, goats, horses, etc. I guess I am pretty lucky. I can sit out my back window, or travel, and still get wonderful shots.

My forte is really seascapes, landscapes (not much to work with around my town though), and wildlife. I really don't care much for shooting indoors or studio shots, or even portraits. I will probably be sitting out the next few challenges until some kind of theme comes up that does motivate me to do what I love rather than just shoot for the challenge itself. Not much for footwear and education shots this time around. Just no motivation for that stuff. A bad few weeks here with health hasn't helped. So I am longing to get back on my feet, but I will probably spend any time I have this weekend either sorting through discs of photos not yet edited, or perched out the window. Right now I am trying to attract hummingbirds for my very first time, so I am waiting for that to happen to. But for now, I have kind of lost my photography mojo. :)

As a weekend phot warrior I normally hit the local countryside and historic areas near where I live. Windsor and London are not too far for the heavy historical thing and there are some superb woodlands and nature reserves nearby.

But this weekend I will be mostly in a "literary" vein, trying to conjure up some magic for my first advanced editing entry. Or I may just photo me feet and be more "basic" if that fails!

Have a good weekend one and all - and happy snapping!

Carl

PS wet weekend here as well!

i could get plenty of 'muddy' shots this weekend - but it's also supposed to rain. from cold/snow to mud/rain. the mud season signs for dirt roads were put up this week. so i've got until early May before outdoors is much fun... though we didn't get the deep freeze nor much for snow - so no frost - so maybe a mild mud season this year ;}

add to that taking the dog out frequently - and then cleaning him off when we get in, and early spring just seems mushy...

oh well

I've got 3 options this weekend:

Petco park photog tour Saturday (in the rain)

St. Patrick's Day Parade at Balboa Park saturday(in the rain)

and/or

Mountain Men Rendevouz Days in BradPs neck of the woods (Old Poway park saturday/sunday) (in the rain)

Think I'll do something in the rain... Got to do the Petco Park thing as I'm signed up, it overlaps the parade (which is really cool in San Deigo). Most likely make the mountain men reenactment thing on Sunday...should have a bunch o pics for Monday.

Sometimes when I dont have a clue where I am going I will hit this site. I know this is for Texas, but I am sure your state has something comparable out there on the web.

Places you may have never thought of, that are relatively close.

I took a few shots after work tonight, nothing to jump up and down about though, pretty sunset, wild ducks in the creek (don't see that too often), and some macros for fun. We still have 4 kids at home so this weekend is annual eye checkups, probably new glasses for 2, shopping for a school DC trip the middle child is going on, and rain, rain, rain. Maybe I'll play with shoes, I have to do some shoe purging anyway. With all these kids still in school there are bound to be some good ideas for that too.

Darn - I am at work. My Camera is collecting dust at home. It is such a beautifull day here in Richards Bay. Extremely hot and sunny. I would much rather be on the beach photographing water and beach sport. (Beach sport always looks nice in bikinis) ;-}

I used to live in England (just south of Warwick) and would ride my bicycle to Stratford Upon Avon where Shakespeare was born. I immediately thought of this area when the Literary challenge came up. To combine the subject of Shakespeare's work with the incredibly beautiful locale where he lived and worked would have been very interesting.

I live in Florida now, but I was thinking about a trip over there this summer. Too late for the Literary challenge for me, but it might work for you.

Just so happens there's an Atlanta GTG tonight, so I'll be heading downtown to try some more night shooting (this time I won't be freezing my toes off). But before that I'm going to shoot Elizabeth Taylor dripping in diamonds at a local jewelry store. Okay, so it's not THE Elizabeth Taylor. I shoot a feature for our local monthly magazine, of the "Famous Residents" around our town. :-) Should be fun. Then tomorrow, I'll be getting together will Jaxed to do a sitting for one of her friends children for use on our new business website.

All in all, a pretty busy photography weekend. Definitely not the norm for me. I'll be lucky if I take my camera out at all on the weekends, except to shoot my PAD.

This is the first weekend of our spring break at school, so I had HOPED to be shooting pictures in some beautiful location. However, since life is the way it is, I'm here at home, looking outside at the slate gray clouds, and seeing the weather report that all weekend we will have rain and storms. Lovely. Even more lovely is the fact that on the first day of vacation, my kids woke me up at 6:15 am. It takes a block of dynamite to get them out of bed at that same time when I am getting them ready for school. Why today????? ;)

Next week, there are at least four days of sunshine...I'm going to take the boys to three different zoos and maybe even a wildlife park. The Dallas Arboretum opened up the "Dallas Blooms" exhibit yesterday, so maybe we'll get over there to see that as well. As much as I would love to veg out this week, I really want to have some quality photography time. We'll see how much the weather and the kids cooperate! :)

Luckily this will be last Saturday for 4 weeks that I am at work. The next three weekends are going to be busy - 3 weddings I must do as well as some local sport events. Then I will do lots of photography. I love doing weddings - For me there is nothing more beautifull than a bride.

By the way - Unlike normal men who see a woman and imagine her in a swim suit (or naked...), I see a woman and imagine her in a wedding dress smiling at my camera with big eyes and blushing cheeks...

Anyway - Pity about your weather - Here in Natal it is sunny and hopefulle it will still be light enough to take a couple of photos when I get home.

Good idea. And, umm, just a warning....don't try "newyorkescapes.com" unless of course you need a 'fantasy guide to erotic entertainment'!!

Well, I (and two friends) wound up at Teeter Pond today. It was about 55-60F and sunny. A real nice day to get out...by New York standards. :-)

Let's see your weekend pics!

Just starting my downloads from today - that'll take a while so I will try to shoot for Take Two while I wait.

Was a wonderful day to shoot outdoors. We hit 80 degrees today! :)
