I was going to post this weekend about doing Cherry Blossom GTG 2006 the weekend of April 1. Seems I was beaten to the punch. :)

Yes you were! But that's ok, we forgive you. And on that note, would you like to come? We are planning to meet at about 2 in the afternoon on April 1st and shooting until people want to leave. Just send me a PM if you're interested. We are also trying to figure out a location. I was thinking by the Tidal Basin but let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Charles

I'd recommend meeting near a Metro station, ideally near the top of the escalator for the Chinatown exit of the Gallery Place/Chinatown station. That way we'll be accessible from 3 metro lines, at surface level so we have a cell phone signal, and under cover in case it rains. We'll also have a reasonable walk (or as reasonable as we can get) to the Tidal Basin.

Yes, I know Smithsonian is a slightly shorter walk, but I refuse to deal with that station on the Saturday of cherry blossom week.

You can count me as a definite attendee.

Plans have changed slightly. At the suggestion of ClubJuggle, we are going to meet at the top of the escalator at the Gallery/Place Chinatown Metro Station. Our meeting time is still 2:00 PM.

Here is the updated list of people who are going for sure as of now.....

Sounds like a great meeting spot, I was wondering about that..... like I said from my previous post I may not want to drive, so I may just hope on the train and take it. Then I would just have to figure out how to get there to that station.

Well I am still on the maybe list like I said before, hey my name is missing on the maybe list :)

I might be up for it. Looks like I'll probably be in Philly on a consulting gig for a few weeks, but could drive down for the day/weekend. :-) Can't give you definitive answer yet though. Have to get retainer from client this week first!

Count me in. Just asked The Wife, and she didn't object to it :)

I'll see you all there!

Will also be there the 26th if anyone is interested - planning an evening/night shoot. And the 25th for the marathon...

Umm, if I am in DC on business that weekend and they let me out for the weekend I would like to take the opportunity to meet if it is possible. Didn't realise the marathon was on the 25th: chosen an interesting time to visit it would appear!

She was awake... I just didn't bother to mention that it's 250 miles away! :)

This cracked me up as when I told my wife I was off to DC on business she noted that 5000 miles was a long way to go to take some photos!

She knows me too well...

Might count me and my wife (mystical_princess) in on that. I will have my d200 by then.

Is the Chinatown metro the one with the realllllly long escalator? I have nightmares about one of DC's metro escalators.

Well, if the 11-day forecast is calling for rain, you can count on it being sunny!

I totally understand. If it rains we will call it off because nobody wants to go shoot in the rain. Somehow I think it will be all right though.

I will be shooting in the rain. I love it - the lighting, the reflections, the umbrellas, the people running...

I will be getting down there around 10AM if anyone is interested in meeting early.

Also, if you're in town for the weekend and want to shoot baseball, the O's and Nats are playing an exhibition game on Saturday at 4:30. I only mention this because I just picked up 3 club level seats on the third base side for $45. Usually, the club seats are $55 each.

I'll also be downtown on the 25th shooting night shots of the cherry blossoms, then onto the fish market. PM me if interested...
