I am purchasing Kodak Z7590 that has histogram and PC socket for attaching external flash.
I will attach my external strobe.
How can i find correct exposure? I dont have a flash meter, dont want buy as i dont have money, else i would be forced to buy from ebay a second hand meter |

Obviously the histogram does you no good until after you take the picture with flash, but by taking more than one image using flash you can review the histogram to determine if your exposures are correct or not.
Don't know if that helps much, but if I were you I would do a lot of experimentation before I tried taking pictures I cared about to make rough expectations for what you will get.

If you know the Guide Number of the strobe, you can calculate exposure for given ISO, distance, and aperture.
As far as strobes are concerned aperture alone controls exposure - shutter speed is irrelevant.

You could learn what guide numbers are and use them to calculate the correct exposure. Your strobes will have guide numbers associated with them.
EDIT: oops... what fotoman said.. i didn't read down that far :)

The 7590 does have a pc socket for lighting hook-up, but if it's shows a histogram, it's hidden pretty well, I've never seen it on mine. Doesn't say anything about it in the manual. Is there something I am missing? |

The easy way:
Have the subject hold an 18% gray card. Zoom in on the gray card as much as possible (but without changing your flash's distance to subject). If you can manage to get mainly just the gray card in the image, then you should see a peak in your histogram. That peak should be right in the middle of the histogram.
