I've cut and pasted in PSP and what they say is true, it's just freaky! LOL

| it really is impressive. the first time I saw it, I refused to believe it until I checked the colors in Photoshop. Interestingly, if you squint enough to blur your vision, the colors do look the same. |

I've seen that also. To be honest, I've never seen a better illusion. I showed it to my dad and even after taking it into photoshop and showing him with the dropper tool that they were, for sure, the same color he still didn't believe me!

| Whoa... that IS weird. I wouldn't believe it either without messing around with it in Photoshop. |

First time I saw that one I had to bring it into PS to prove it to myself as well! It is hard to believe just looking at it.

| It also happens to be a fine example of why doing monitor calibration by eye or with Adobe Gamma is a waste of time |

Quoted from that very same website:
"The visual system is not very good at being a physical light meter, but that is not its purpose. The important task is to break the image information down into meaningful components, and thereby perceive the nature of the objects in view."
So why bother calibrating our monitors?
Its what pleases the eyes that matters, doesn't it??? :) |

Great online illusion site
I like that site for optical illusions. It explains why a lot of them happen.

That one is totally my favorite too. I had it printed on a sheet of photo paper laying on my desk for a while and people would stop and ask me how I made it move! lol

my eyes are literally burning from sleepiness combined with optical illusion. they hurt actually. And all of them are outstanding. So are we defective. Can we think of any way these visual illusions can help with photography?

Well you could use it to your advantage. If people can't see the greatness in your work just tell them it's an optical illusion. It looks like crap but really it's not. At least that's the excuse I use. :) |
