I seen some of you have a special ribbon for a rubber duckie challenge in the past. How about something like this again? But this time, for staying afresh, how about a KNOCK-OUT challenge?
This is how it goes.
A challenge theme is given, and the challenge runs for a week as usual.
From all submissions, only the top 100 will be allowed to move on to the next Knock-out challenge. A new challenge topic will be given.
And after another week, only the top 30 will be allowed to move on to the next Knock-out challenge. A new challenge topic will be given.
And finally, the last top 10 will be allowed to enter for the next knock-out challenge. And finally the top 3 winners get a special ribbon (SC can decide on what to give for this special challenge)
Something like a DPC-idol kinda thing, where we implement a knock-out system :)
what do you think? Are you game? hehe
p/s: if this cant be officially done as a site challenge, anyone wants to make this an unofficial challenge, something like the Advanced Editing challenge that had been running?
I know I wont be able to win this, but thought it would be nice to see the top guys goes to work for the top-spot :) Thanks |

So in other words you would be giving out 3 ribbons at every round or just the final round? Also, would all of the themes be known ahead of time or a surprise? |

I like it. I was actually considering suggesting something similar myself but hadn't worked out the details in my head.
One vote from me! |

How about a twist in that you don't let previous ribbon winners enter? Oh wait, but then there will be "newbies" named Rokki or lobrodo in the challenge. ;) |

Just the final 3 winners of course :)
The themes would not be known until the "elimination" is done :) |

Don't you think the surprise themes would be a problem? For example, say you made it to the last round and suddenly the last theme is about macro shots and you don't own a macro lens... |

I'm sure the judges and the SC would try to be fair in this aspect.
By the way, maybe we can also make good use of the Critique Club, they must provide in-depth critiques for the photos that made it into the top 30 of this knock-out challenge. This would be even more "DPC-idol-like" hehe. And the rest of us could watch and vote :) |

Maybe Langdon or Drew would like to chime in and act like Trump and start saying "you're fired" LOL!!! |

This is a great idea! What are the chances of this actually happening? |

...sounds cool.
Maybe add another dimension - the first round has 1 week, the following round has 4 days, then 3 days, and then the final 10 photogs have 2 days to make it happen.
A little stress on the photogs, make them sweat. ('them'...I wish I could say 'us', but I am a realist).
Just an idea. |

I think this sounds great! What do you think if the voting was limited to ONLY the people who enter? (not sure if its possible to do that?!) This way the contestants will decide their fate, instead of everyone under the sun? Just a thought... |

Cool idea... I don't know if I'd make it past the first round. But pretty cool.

I personally think it would be more fair if everyone were allowed to vote, especially as it got down to a few contestents. People not entered in the challenge are more subjective because they do not have and investment in the challenge themselves.
