CS2 has a contact sheet function

Go to File > automate > COntact Sheet II

Select your preferences, and what folder and voila

Thanks guys, that one is CS2 is really cool. Does the one in Photofusion look like a "real film" contact sheet?

[/i]Fotofusion

FotoFusion® is a revolutionary tool for building collages, scrapbooks, and flush-mounted photo albums from digital photos.

It converts a selection of your images into a unique photo collage instantly, then provides elegant tools to re-organize, crop, color balance, and package your composition.

The resulting collage can be shared with friends and customers via email, published to the web as a web album, or printed from business card up to poster size.

It has masks and things in it, and I think there is one like you describe. I'llbe using it tomorrow and this week to make a wedding album - i'll check and see.
