Our olympic team will be bringing home the most medals from a winter game for our country... One of our girls (Cindy Klassen) has the most medals (5) in a winter games! All I can say is Oh Canada our home and native land....

I'm very impressed with our athletes in these games.

Clara Hughes' performance in the 5000m speed skate was what these games are all about. She put everything on the line and grabbed the gold medal out of nowhere. Unbelievable.

Someon do a tally-up to compare male versus female medals for Canada. I think the Canadian women may be kicking some butt.

Congrats Canadians! For an awesome country and great athletes.

They're probably doing even better if you consider medals-per-capita population.

I've always seen the (sometimes derogatory) term spelled C-A-N-U-C-K ...

Yesterday the Nfld team won the gold in curling. The Minister of Education actually closed the schools yesterday aftenoon so all the kids could go home and watch the game on tv! I even watched, and I have never watched a curling game in my life and my BF had to explain the rules to me the night before. It was pretty exciting.

It wasn't a provincial holiday in Newfoundland. Schools were closed for the afternoon only so kids could watch the game. Everything else was business as usual, including government offices.

I know that it wasn't technically a provincial holida, but from hat I saw of the city streets on th news, the roads were pretty dead and quite. I knew that it was just the schools who officially had the day off, but for many people they took the time to watch the game ... I'm in Ontario and I was glued to the Internet for updates rather than working.

Regardless .... WOOOHOOOO Canada!!!!
