Greetings...

The time has come for me to replace several sets of AA rechargeable batteries. I have a total of 20 at the moment, and none of them are holding a charge very long any more. I rotate them as I use them and they are all NiMH batteries. I have some of the Energizer brand batteries. Eight of them are the 2300mah models and the rest are 2500. The charger I am using is one that came with the first set of batteries that I bought. It's a slow trickle charger that takes 14 hours to charge the batteries. I try to avoid the rapid chargers because they significantly decrease the overall life of the batteries. I go through 2 to 4 sets of 4 batteries in my 550ex flash units every week with my newspaper sports shooting. The newest set I have is almost one year old. I'm guessing that each set of 4 has at least 50 cycles on it.

Is anyone here using other brands of rechargeables? I'm looking for recommendations.

I use Duracell 1500....2050mah, 1.2v. But, that's for something else. my camera doesn't use AA.

Imaging Resource did a study on what charger was the best and they said the charger had a lot to do with battery life and how it held a charge. Did you ever read this. //www.imaging-resource.com/ACCS/C204W/C204WA.HTM
I̢۪ve got it for Christmas and it is amazing how the batteries last. It also reconditions the batteries so they last longer

I'm using the MAHA MH-C204W Battery Charger from Thomas Distributing, along with their Powerex batteries (2300-2500 mah). They're all the rage in the forums at DPReview.com and elsewhere.

I have used the PowerEX batteries before and I do have a MH-C204GT charger that seems to be very similar to the one you have. The GT isn't quite as fast though. I have been using the Energizer 14 hour charger instead. I may order some of these Powerex batteries again and see how well they do. I really need to just replace all of my batteries. I think it would be a good idea to mark the batteries when I get them so I know which ones are the oldest.
