Anybody know where I could pick up a damaged, dying, even completely non-functional and most importantly CHEAP Sony F707 or F717? I want to do some experimenting but don't want to bugger up a perfectly good camera doing it. I've already done the Ebay, google search, etc but haven't found anything yet.
Thanks in advance if you can help.

Found a broken one on ebay, but they still want $500 for it. Don't know of anyone who has a dead-ish one. Sorry.

I would be more then happy to buy one and crush it just to get rid of some of the competition. Matter of fact I think we should make it a DP Challenge holiday. Buy and break all sony products. This way here we can all have a chance. LOL

What kind of experiments are you planning to do?

Damitriel,
I want to work on a couple of projects using the 707. I want to tinker with the protocol so I can have a computer control time elapsed shots and I want to take one apart to figure out how to override the stupid limitations they crippled the IR section with. I want FULL control of the IR mode and want to see if I can intercept and modify the signals contolling the hot mirror (IR filter) so I can set aperature and shutter speed in IR mode. The 1/60 at F2 just to defeat the "X-Ray" camera perverts ticks me off. I'm pretty good at adaptating stuff and making things work the way I want them too but I don't want to do it with a perfectly functional camera (and my only source of digital photography at the moment).
Jab,
The talk forum is a great idea. I don't know why I didn't think of it myself. Cranial rectumitis I guess. Thanks for the suggestion.
