Does anyone play on other DP sites that are similar to this one? How do they compare?

(If this has come up previously, kindly point me to the thread.)

Thanks.

Did you really mean for this to be in Rant?

Possibly in preparation for the Web-monogamous.

I, on the other hand, am a Web-slut.

I recently entered a photo at Eyefetch and got fourth place. I swear I'm just not meant for a ribbon no matter where I enter.

I also have an account at Fotofight, but haven't entered any challenges yet.

I'm working on a variation based on this site... It will be an expansion of The Gauntlet challenge from December. Stay tuned for more (currently top secret).

:-)

When I first starting looking for a DP site, I found plenty of them that were all "free study", something I didn't find particularly interesting as a competition.

When I found DPC, I found "home" and have been totally loyal ever since (insert appropriate music and aaahhhh'ing here).

However, that may change soon as I am becoming very disillusioned with recent changes (the way sticking to the topic is becoming less and less important, the moaning about comments, the thought police locking/deleting way too much, etc).

However, I'm still hoping DPC will get back on track *sigh*.

I will be watching for that one...

I put this in rant because as Strikeslip guessed, I didn't want to offend DPC loyals ;-) Besides, the disgruntled rant-readers probably do the most searching out of alt sites. This is a nice place but I'm not sure I want to shoot stock photography.

Thanks for the replies, any others will also be appreciated.

I'm not disgruntled, I'm diversified. :-)

Thanks for the link. Not touching dpc is ok. I'm looking for something on a slightly different bent. Perhaps a more bent bent.

Like Strikeslip, I too am a web slut, but only because after I wake up from a week of drinking, I somehow find myself somewhere I have no idea how I got there.

Eyefetch.com

Openphotographycontest.com

Photoblink.com

SportsShooter.com

Worth1000.com

oh the list goes on.

The thing is, even though I am on these sites, I am no closer to perfection, and even farther from Gods graces.

Do you have an account on Sports Shooter? The stuff on there is amazing. I was thinking about trying to get a membership after this summer because all I do during the summer is shoot sports photography. Sports Shooter is one of the only completely pro-ish level community I've come across. That is one reason I don't think I'll make the cut ;)

No, not yet. They know me however. And they have given me some great tips.

Just start asking questions, read their materials, and start networking.

I am going to try again soon for membership.

Persistance, in more than just SportsShooter.com, is key. Not trying, and giving up is not acceptable.

Hang in there.

I enter at betterphoto.com as well. It has professional judges and although it takes a long time to find out results, it's fun to see other entries - I find the overall quality quite good. I was a finalist once.
