I was shooting something on continious earlier but nothing to really stress the flash, maybe 5 series of 8 one second apart flashes. It quit firing so I turned it off, then back on. Instead of making the high pitched charging sound it made a really low pitched constant sound like the batteries were going dead, then stopped. I tried completely fresh batteries, same thing... The unit comes on, LCD is fine, I can zoom the flash head and everything, just makes a really low pitched constant sound then quits, like the capacitor quit holding a charge or something... I can't even get it to fire on manual at 1/128...
I just missed Canon support by 20 minutes too....... ahhhhhh! Anyone have any clue what it could be? Thanks! |

Take it off the camera and see if it cycles normally.

Really does sounds like you've popped a capacitor. But, if that is all it is... should not be a really expensive repair.

i hope that's all it is, should i check with a camera store first? (nearest good one about 45 mins i think) because i know calling canon will be the most expensive... |

WEIRD, I let my batteries charge overnight even though they were all supposedly completely full, works PERFECT today. So something has either come loose or my rechargeable batteries are dying (I have a feeling this is probably it). Boy I feel like an idiot but I'm actually glad. |
