Hey I didnt know that was you!! Good work :))

:P

That made my day...thank you.

My score was at a 6.8 after about 60 votes...but it has dropped like a rock today and is around a 6.3 with 4 comments.

Still not too bad I guess.... ;)

This is sad, and...

I want to blame it on something (other than my uninspiring photo), I wanna blame it on the people who complained about receiving "upsetting" comments from voters! Darn it, you people! ;)

That's exactly right...I did gripe about getting one word comments, but come on people "upsetting" comments???? The way I take this site is a learning process...some comments might make your day, and others might make you want to stop taking photos. How about from now on out we don't complain about what kind of comments we are getting...and just be happy if we get more than 3 in 100+ votes...

Hehehe. Well expect comments from me. I will try my darnest to comment on all. Such inspiration are these entries. The problem is that it takes me a long time to vote as I also look up the photographer being "tributed". I've already seen great ideas and images for the future ;)
01/26/2006 01:56:59 AM · #107
I have 2 comments with over 200 views, 95 votes :(

I thought my picture would do well, it has a 4.7 T_T

No comments = no way of knowing why! BAH
01/26/2006 03:13:38 AM · #108
I started off with 8.3, 2 comments and 2 favorites after 28 votes. But it's been dropping steady since. I had more than 7 all day yesterday and now down to 6.5 with 10 comments.

Does anyone want a picture of me as I fly (read: flapping my arms) towards the sea from Golden Gate? It could be a great entry for the free-study challenge... :)

But seriously - I'm very happy with 6.5! This is way over my average score on DPC.

You have rated 187 of 188 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 44 images (23%) in this challenge.

Wonderful challenge guys! Now I'll be going back and bumping images as I leave them comments. I am hoping to comment on all of them.

So far, from my pledge of leaving 4 comments for every 1 that I receive, I have about 96 comments to leave. I'm halfway there ;)

Nice job Ricci - wish I could be as dilligent as you.

I live in the mountains in Norway and only have dial-up connection - and a bad one as such :( Norway is 98% covered with high-speed but I live a little too remote.

Voting is like pulling teeth as each picture takes forever to load but I try to at least do the minimum on most challenges. But I do comment on most of those as that doesn't take longer than it takes for anyone else once the picture has loaded.

Still the comments I'm getting are pretty encouraging about the shot.

OK, so this is gonna take me awhile, but I will get through and vote on every submission. And I *am* looking up the referenced photogs to get a feel for their work if I'm not familiar with it to begin with. What a fun challenge!

Oh, and yes, my score continues to go downward, but I have 6 comments after about 100 votes. Not bad!

Maybe it's not you need improving but that your photo didn't hit the right DPC mainstream vote.

I'll be lucky to hit a 5.00..The main thrust of the comments are "Great Photo...Too bad about the...." Where the "..." is on purpose but tends to get voted down here. Which is o.k.

I'm just saying that people tellin you what you should have done to get them to vote higher and something being wrong are two different things :-)

Help! I'm falling and I can't seem to get back up! ;-)

EDIT: I'm still pleased with score though - if it would just stabilize!!!

As predicted in an earlier thread, I am finding that my score (and the quality of comments received) increases with people that actually go look up my selected photographer on the web. Subsequently, I am getting tagged by those who have never seen this person's work. Bummer. It's again leading me to the "make a pretty picture and don't worry about the challenge description" argument. (sigh)

The comments I have received from those that have reviewed this person's work are some of the BEST comments I have ever received! They are well thought out, poignant, analytical and helpful!! Thank you for making the effort!

You have rated 187 of 188 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 49 images (26%) in this challenge.

Slowly but surely, I am leaving comments for everyone (with some at length too... sorry I just tend to blabber sometimes).

I'm patiently waiting Rikki. Truth be told though, I'm a suck at waiting. ;-P
