As I promised, I will be returning 4 comments for every comment I receive. So far, I have pledged to make 72 comments. I have only made 14 so far :(

Uh oh!

Haha, you picked the wrong challenge to do 4:1. I did that on Triptych and then got 39 comments. Ouch, I think I wound up calling "uncle" on that one.

Oh dear! I think you're right Doc! I am at 80 my last check ;) Don't blame me if I call uncle ;)

I don't think I'm going to make headway. Every time I make it over 6, I get hit with a 3 or less. This entry is going to garner enough of those votes it's going to be hard to move. Oh well. (chanting..."It wasn't about the score...It wasn't about the score...")

I am curious to see how this challenge turns out. I don't really know why I have the score I do with two comments one saying a bunch of personal opinions about a professional photographers style...them not liking it....anyways...shouldn't this challenge be about how well you mimicked the style??????

Bahaha...I got a comment saying that they liked my work better than the artist I made a tribute for. That made my day:P

I wish I got that kind of comment....

I think this challenge should be about how well you portrayed the photographers style...not personal opinions people! If I am wrong someone correct me...so i can go vote differently!

not wrong Angela... :)

i really took it as a tribute, rather than a mere dpchallenge, i went though his works, i tried to understand him. And i tried my best to shoot something that i thought if he were alive would have shot. I did my part and i am happy with it no matter what the final score be.

I think the photo should meet the challenge, but if the photo is "bad" or if people don't actually like it whether it meets the challenge or not, then it is going to get voted down.
It's just the same as any other challenge.
If there was an Anne Geddes tribute in here (I don't actually know if there is) then I'm sure the "baby haters" would let their feelings be known about it.

Hey, I think there's something wrong with my update button.... every time I hit it my score goes down. Can this be fixed? To whom should I report this odd and annoying occurence?

:-)

I think it's a server problem because it's happening to me too. :)

My score was 6.2** lasy night; I got up this morning, it was 5.6** - four hours later, it`s even less. :-(

My score on the Tribute challenge is settling down to a level that will be my best score in 6 months if it holds. On the challenge 6 months ago, I had 27 comments (around 1 comment for every 8 votes). So far I've got 85 votes but just 1 comment for Tribute.

Anyone else seeing low comment ratios?

I have three comments with 75 votes. This doesn't seem particularly low to me - and I know that at least someone around here is getting a lot of them.

One thing I have noticed is that there seems to be fairly wide disparities in the number of votes received thus far. When DrAchoo's was at 85, mine was at 70. I think there may be an unusually high amount of selective voting here.

I have 5 comments, A couple of them saying basically too bad about the upcoming DQ 1. My score is all over the place, but staying high 6's but I'm really getting ticked about how people think it will be DQ then vote it as low as possible. I actually could care less about the score, but don't automatically assume the photo isn't legal based on a narrow minded view. I do take that WAY more personally than any score, don't accuse and punish before all the facts are in.. Sorry for the rant...

I have 95 votes and 8 comments - + one FAV
01/25/2006 09:54:34 PM · #96
getting only a measly 3 comments in total after nearly 100 votes.

This is sad, and...

I want to blame it on something (other than my uninspiring photo), I wanna blame it on the people who complained about receiving "upsetting" comments from voters! Darn it, you people! ;)

You commented on mine, but I dont get your meaning?

"your photo looks like cow dung in a snow field. a better memory card will give you better dynamic range and a new shutter button will improve your blur focus"

EDIT: nah, you havent left a comment on mine yet :)

Well, it looks like I'm in good company of folks watching their score drop with every update. I've had 85 votes and 12 comments. Some like it, but I've gotten a lot of complainy comments about everything from not liking the post-processing to not thinking my style was enough like my person's, but my score is still in the mid-6's. . .but something tells me based on some of the comments I'm getting that it may keep dropping. Oh well. . .I'm trying to take the comments to heart and watch for those things next time. But I wonder why its getting so much more brutal the longer the day goes on. Mid-morning, I was up to 6.9 for a fairly good while. Hmmmmmmm
