Ok, so I would like to frame and sell my photography at fairs and such... but where do I get cheap but nice looking frames? I need frames that are cheap enough so I can make a worthwhile profit while keeping my prices low(er). Even frames that need some assembly would be fine (wood, metal, plastic...anything). I have made 20-some frames from wood for 12x18 inch prints... but they take alot of work.

So where do those that sell alot of prints get their wholesale frames?

If anybody has suggestions, that would be great! Thanks.

AC Moore and Michaels have pre-fab metal segments that you can assemble yourself. You can buy some decent framing online at //www.americanframe.com if u choose. When you price your prints you need to look at a couple things to come up with what to charge. I do mine like this:

1. The price I would sell the print alone for
2. The cost of the framing marked up 30%
3. Any commission that I'm having to pay to sell

Add those three together to get the final price of your piece.

I would purchase frames that have ample room for matting the images. I have some of my own prints hanging in the house and my office and I went dirt cheap for frames.

Sometimes the images come into contact with the glass and then turn crappy as the image becomes "glued" to the glass in an uneven fashion. (You will know what I am talking about if it happens to your images.)

Wow. Those are so good price compared to the place I go locally to get the work done. On top of that the local place doesn't have the frame I like which is the black metal Radius.

I don't know if you are planning to frame them all or not but it seems like a large waste if you do.

I would probably frame a few of each with different mattes and frames just to show the variety or ability of the image to work in different settings but I think most (myself included in certain cases) would want to buy a picture with maybe just a matte so they can find a frame that matches their homes decor or fits what they think works for them.

Now of course if you find a frame that is absolutly perfect for an image then sure I'd try and sell it in that frame or at least let the person know you can get it for them at a later date, that way you know how many you need exactly.

Might just be me but I think you'd do better without spending a lot on frames people may not even want.

Good luck.
