Okay we all have the challenge entry that we thought would do well, but didn't do as well as you had hoped("What were they thinking?") and we all have the entry that in hindsight was a big mistake ("What was I thinking?").
Let's see them both:
What were they thinking?
I know. The shadows, the shadows.
What was I thinking?

Okay...
Not sure what I was thinking at the time now....
Branch.... second photo ever on DPC, nuff said.
Coffe Shop... trying too hard to get an entry in.
Light on White... well, I took this in the hour before rollover to see what I coul come up with.
I learned a lesson or two from each of these bad photo's that I did not from any other picture though... |

for silhouettes:
for At the Zoo - we have no zoos around here, but that was no excuse for the lousy focusing....was a last minute entry that I knew better than to shoot.

Ok. . since you guys are revealing your most regrettable moments on dpc, I guess I'll show you my worst
"What Was I THINKING!!"
It was on the Body Part challenge, and I wanted to capture my daughter-in-law's BEAUTIFUL eyes. . .except I don't know WHAT got into me with all the processing. . neat image. . .cloning. . .and who knows what all. I ruined that gorgeous face. What in the WORLD was I thinking!!!

My first entry on DPC, and before I really knew how to work a dslr. I would like to believe I am much better than that now.

You know,Joshua, I remember this image (when my memory was refreshed by your posting) and thought at the time, "there's an idea in there some place, but danged if I can find it!"
I'm so pleased you're still enjoying the site and hope you will submit more and more photos. Because as you get better at your camera, your original ideas have better execution. |

Thank you for the kind words sfalice. My second contest entry got 5.5 something, so I think I have improved. It has been a year between them though. My third entry is in the signs challenge and is just over a 5 right now, so that is still better than my first try. I am enjoying the site, not only the challenges, but the community.

I have two of them:
For some reason, I really wanted to be in the challenge, even though I KNEW it was a lousy photo:
This one tickled my funny bone at the time, and I hoped others would get a giggle out of it too. Guess most people didn't... LOL.
However, it is much easier to see a bad score for photos like those, rather than with the ones that I felt soooooo positive about :-( |
