Lowel Ego

Anyone have any experience with the Lowel Ego?... looks like a neat piece of equipment.

Edit: but it also looks like something I could easily build myself too.

Never used it but considering it's flouresent light I would inmagine when combined with other lights it would make white balance difficult.

It does kinda look like a DIY kinda project.

Yeah... was thinking that using daylight balanced bulbs and standard light fixtures, this would be a simple DIY project.

Yes, I use one and think it's great. For the price, a real charm.

I used it to fill the right side of both images here but on it's own, it does a great job.

You have any stand-alone shots you can post?

A virus just killed my Photoshop...can't resize at the moment

Evil things are happening to my computer today...had a semi blue screen of death and after restoring all hell broke loose.

..another time, sorry.

I ordered one a couple of days ago. It's on backorder so it could take a while to get to my house.

I figure the Ego has to be easier to use than my combination of overhead lighting, desklamps, flashlights and the like. I remember reading a thread somewhere about the Lowel Ego and some of the comments, as I recall, said that for the price it would be difficult to build it yourself for cheaper when factoring in your time.

it's basicly a big softbox or a big diffusion screen. you can get the same thing out of a shop light and a cheap white shower curtin (streched across an empty picture frame)

I wouldn't pay money for it, micgiver (sp?) wouldn't pay money for it

I'm thinking the same thing... may build one with dimension of about 5'x3'
I'm thinking 15 100 watt bulbs.
