Only photos that have a ribbon would qualify. If that wouldn't generate enough entries then expand the requirement to top 10 finishes. I wanna vote for a Best of the Best 2005!

Has this been done before?

They already have their kudos...I'd rather see "Best of the Worst" drawn from the bottom of the pack.

One of the problems is it will become a popularity contest since anonymity is gone

What a nice idea, and I would love to see all the top 5's compete... what a nice idea. Extrapolating from that why not 'The best of the best of all times'... only the ribbons of all times love the idea.

I haven't voted in that many challenges yet but it seems to me it's already like that. There are photos off the bat that I pretty much knew who submitted them just by looking at prior challenges and whatnot. Besides it's just one challenge that would be like that. If you wanted to keep anonymous just don't submit your photo.

I figured if this is a learning site and some of these photographers that have ribbons are still here competing they must think there is still stuff to learn what better way then to beef up the competition and have their photos scrutinized even more? I mean wouldn't such a challenge require the winning entry to have a really really high score to win?

I like that idea also but I'm guessing less people would submit entries for that.

In a way this reminds me of the arguments put forward about the need for a national championship in college football. Do we need another BCS mess?

And what is to be learned from submitting an already entered, and already judged superior, image for a second time?

If you really need to know how dpc voters compare them you could just go thru all the images that would be eligible and rank them according to the scores they have already earned? or by the number of comments received? or by the number of times selected as a favorite photograph? or by the number of views since voting?
