I was going to put this photo in the free study x challenge but I couldnt as the orig file was lost. (there is no photo like this going in any challenge)
just wanting to get the veiws of dpc members.
So far the photo has given me nothing but bad luck lets hope it will change:)
Oh I forgot to say this was taken without a tripod with 10x zoom and with shutter speed set for dark night so I dont think I did too bad with geting that little blur:)

In the image it looks like the copilot is screaming and the pilot is reaching down for something....
too funny |

... why do you take any photo??

Usually you see something interesting and want to capture a moment or tell a story, sometimes you're trying a new technique, etc... I think skip may have been trying to get you to tell us something about the photo since it's posted for feedback.

Ok just seemed like a little poke to me as in why bother taking it..
If it was not ment in this way then sorry
I took it as I have always wanted to be the one doing the flying and not the one looking on at the plane and I love to see them:)

once i heard someone describing another photographer's photojournalistic work thusly, "damn, that guy is incredible. he's the only person i've ever met whose images didn't need captioning! his images tell the whole story."
when i heard that, i decided that would be my bar--to try to take self-captioning shots, to take images that captured the viewer with their story without need of explanation. it's a goal i sometimes hit, and sometimes miss. all the same, it's what i strive for.
once i read a comment left on an image here that went something like this, "nice. you've documented the fact that a flower got in front of your camera."
when i read that, i thought, "damn, i would hate for that to be someone's first reaction to an image of mine."
when i'm out shooting, whether for me, or on assignment, or for a client, i'm looking for ways to capture something that tells a story, that makes someone pause more than a moment to take the image in. i'm shooting to produce a connection, an impact. sometimes, you have no choice or options. it's up to you to make the most of what's in front of you.
hopefully, this answers your question as to why i would take any photo. and you've answered mine ;-) |
