"Determination"
I'm trying to put two prints together for my local camera club competition tomorrow night. I have one ready to go and I'm considering using this photo as well as a matted 11x14 print. Any feedback or suggestions for improvement on it would be appreciated :)

Awww, he looks cute as a button! The expression on his face is adorable :-) Nice shot! Can't think of anything I'd change about it. |

Very nice image indeed, and well titled too.
One observation (albeit minute) is the very top of the image has a dark edge to it, while the rest of the image is lighter in tone. Don't know if this will have any impact on your choice of mat color or not.
Good luck in the competition! ;^)

I'm seeing a slight greenish tinge to his arms and forehead, undoubtedly from reflecting of overhead gym lights. I'm seeing the whole thing as about a half-zone too light; I'd "richen it up" just a tad. Otherwise it's good to go and a very fine image.

No way to tone down the NR to the forearms, huh?

The bright spot above his head catches my eye. Why not go ahead and take the letters and bar code off the ball. Dont make the ball perfect though.

It is always difficult to evaluate how an sRGB web image's appearance compares to the "real" image and how it will actually print with the printer and paper you choose.
This might not be real but there appears to be some flatness in the subject's skin tone particularly visible on the forearm around the ball. It almost looks like there is clipping or out-of-gamut colors or something brought on by post-processing.
There is a LOT of digital artifacting in the soft focus background in the web image and if it shows up there I can't possibly imagine that it would not show up like a sore thumb on the print unless it is just a very low quality web graphic you posted.

Thanks for the feedback. I did modify the crop slightly to clean up the dark edge at the top. There is no greeinsh tint that I can see anywhere. Maybe it's a monitor calibration difference. I printed and matted it so it's going to compete tonight. Thanks :)

Update:
This print got third place in a very tough competition tonight. There were 22 prints entered in my group. The only thing that disappointed me was that this one did better than my other one that I had high hopes for. I ended up with 3rd and honorable mention. So two out of the top 4 in a tough competition was a good thing :)
Thanks for the feedback once again...
