for burst of color this is one of those shots that personally i felt was among my best... voters didnt agree.

The comments i had recieved were helpful but not at the same time. In general people said they would have liked a tighter crop, I originally tried to do that but my equipment was limiting me... this was done with my HP850 when i would try to take the shot closer it kept telling me focus too close and would not allow me to snap it off. when i tried to crop this image down more in PS i kept getting grain and artifacts. (i dont think 4 megapixels is enough for a crop that tight) Bearing this in mind what more could i have done to make this a btter shot?

I think what affected the score here was the pose and angle of view. The image also suffers from "lack of wow factor" that most DPCers are looking for in an image. The main "subject" also doesn't fall under the rules of thirds which is important in images. Eye shots are difficult and it takes trial and error to perfect. I've tried a few eye shots and had some success with them. Maybe it's something that you can try to reshoot again and see what other folks think about it.

The important thing is to keep on trying and experimenting.
