I advise a group of high school guys in an organization called MENS Club (Men Encouraging Nonviolent Strength). Our orientation is basically the prevention of rape and all violence against women by fostering healthy and positive ideals of manhood and masculinity.
We're applying for a grant to create some visual media for the school (large HS in Madison, WI): mainly posters, but also some largish banners (six feet long, 3 feet tall, etc.). To get an idea of the type of visual we're going for, check out this site from the national organization Men Can Stop Rape.
The kids will do their own photography and image post-processing (adding text, etc.). We then need to get the necessary enlargements to make them poster size and larger. Here are my questions:
1. Should we do the enlarging on our own, using available tools, or should we farm it out to pros?
2. Does anybody have experience in making permanent wall mounts for posters? It's a high school, so they need to be relatively immune to vandalism. I'm thinking of mounting the posters/banners to foam board and then covering with plexiglass and bolting to the walls.
3. Does anybody know of sources for the service in #1 and the materials for #2?
Any better ideas for accomplishing this? Our grant app is for $3,000.
