So.......For our honeymoon, Manic and I decided we were gonna buy point and shoot cameras because we didn't wanna turn it into a photographic vacation. This was decided because we had a patch where we would only go out to shoot and didn't actually do any coupley stuff and we didn't want that to happen again. However.....I am now having second thoughts about not taking our SLRs because I wanna get the best pictures I possibly can. What do you guys think? What would YOU do if if it was your honeymoon?

Take the camera ... you will miss them if you don't ... and you might miss that once in a lifetime shot!

take both - but make sure you take away from any type camera each day.

Why not take the cameras? Photography is obviously a big part of both of your lives, and not having them with you might be a distraction... "Oh man! That's a beautiful ______! I wish I had my good camera with me, but nooo..."
Besides, you're bound to have some time when you're not, umm, joined at the hip... :)
And just because you take them doesn't mean you have to use them!

Take both. One brings the SLR and the other brings the P&S. Depending on what you are doing, bring one or the other or both.

I understand your reasoning, but I think you should take your dslr's. I have sometimes purposely NOT taken my camera to events when I just wanted to sit back and enjoy. However, with photography actually being something you both share as interests, and with a little common sense, you should be able to both enjoy each other's company AND enjoy the great sights you're sure to see and want to photograph. take them.... otherwise you'll probably regret it!

I would bring the 20D's but just have the 50 1.8 lens on them.

I say take it.....'just in case' :)

You can always look at it as...these are pictures you will be taking and showing your children some day! What better inspiration? My parents only had a couple of wedding pictures of them....but I would love to have been able to see their getting ready, wedding, honeymoon (when they were so happy) and such pictures. If either of you feel the need to put them away....just do it.....spend more time together....and take more later. Gotta remember....it was what you had in common "photography" that helped you two meet....especially across the miles....how romantic is that?!?! I'm so excited for you two! :)

take it unless you know for certain that if you find something you liked you can come back and shoot it again with the SLR (don't see that happening too easily so I vote take it, you can always do that "couple things" at night wink wink)

I guess I'm in the minority. I say leave the DSLR's behind. Concentrate on having fun and doing honeymooner/tourist stuff. Take lots of snaps with a P&S that you can always have ready and it won't be in the way.

If you do things like snorkeling, parasailing or whatever, you won't want to drag you big heavy camera with you and risk it getting wet/dropping it in the ocean etc and if you leave it sitting behind, you'll have to worry about it growing legs. A P&S on the other hand will slip easily in a pocket on a backpack etc and fits easily inside a small ziploc bag should you go where it might get wet.

I second that

Love me, love my dSLR. I can't imagine going to an exotic locale without it.

What she said! One thing to keep in mind is when you don't want to have the cameras with you, the safe's in the room probably won't hold 2 SLR's Also on your trips you take off the ship if it's swimming and such you won't want to take your good camera.

BTW I haven't seen a post about when the big day is?
