I can't possibly choose! I'll just have to take a whole lot of pictures (gee, shucky darn, what a shame) and pester all my online and IRL friends for advice about which to enter. These are two really awesome challenges.

This is a good feeling, because I didn't come up with anything for City Life (I live in the polar opposite of a city and didn't do much traveling this week) or Shape. Dunno why on 'shape', just wasn't inspired and didn't see anything that shouted PHOTOGRAPH ME.

It's like one challenge for the boys and one for the girls.

/me runs and hides :)

I can't believe you said that. Me and Pawdrix are gonna come beat on you!

I probably will end up backlighting a food shot, and try to figure out which challenge to place the result in, much like my dilemma with my needle phobia shot that was of such stunningly shallow DOF...

Honestly, I am like the frosted mini-wheats kid. The fun, lighthearted side of me is really thinking of a ton of great things to do for the Recipe challenge. The serious, studious side of me thinks that the Backlighting challenge is a great opportunity to stretch myself technically and creatively. I hope this doesn't end up like Shallow DOF where I had SUCH high hopes and so many ideas and I ended up shooting about three things.

I am almost certainly not entering the recipe challenge. Me cooking is not a pretty sight. No amount of haute lighting, Neat Image, Levels or Curves could possibly make it better either.

Sausages and bread anyone?

I wish the challenges would include one that can be taken outside and one using lighting! My lighting stinks and it's too cold for a bbq over here! I shall probably go with recipe and get hammered for poor lighting!

The trouble with that is that then you'll get loads of comments from people "helpfully" suggesting that you mistakenly entered it into the wrong challenge :-)

If I'm gonna submit, it's gonna be the backlighting..
I really don't understand English recipes.. :(

Confused! Why English recipes?

oh, sorry:

You should put the recipe in the details section of the submission.

I assume I'd better do that in English?

Do two minute noodles count?

you cook, I click and eat ;) :P

*considering myself as a good photographer, that I believe no one here agrees to, yet !*

My Indian spices do make a photogenic subject and assuming no one will try the recipe I post, I can enter this challenge.

Oh I don't care about posting my recipes! Y'all can have them..no 2 hands create a dish the same way ( like photography....no 2 sets of eyes see things exactly the same)

Damn I am excited....almost wish I didnt have tomorrow off....

No one said you couldn't take the food outside. Cook it on the grill with six inches of snow on top.

You can surely find some backlighting out side as well.

you can always backlight with the sun Pauline- my favourite backlit image is a horse with the sun behind it.

Hmmm, I did something like that for the last Backlighting challenge. :-) Backlighting. Definitely. Critters with hair/fur are particularly good when backlit, I suspect we'll see a lot of 'em. Food stylist I am never. Lucky if it's edible.

Bear in mind that the recipe won't be visible until after voting is over and results posted. So the judging will be on photography alone, and the recipe is just for sharing after.

backlighting but not creating a silhouette is going to be fun, and challenging! Then again so is cooking.

It's too bad we don't have a scratch-and-sniff option for this one!
(then again, with some of the entries lately, it's probably just as well...)

I can't decide which way to go. Guess we'll see which shots work best. :)
